• Austrian-born New York-based graphic designer & typographer
• Studied graphic design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna
and the Pratt Institute in New York
• Began his design career at 15
• Runs his own design firm: Sagmeister, Inc.
• Designed album covers for Lou Reed, OK Go, The Rolling Stones,
David Byrne, Aerosmith & Path Metheny
• Has also designed for HBO, the Guggenheim Museum and Time
Warner
• Declined an offer to design Barack Obama’s presidential
campaign poster because he was on a sabbatical
• Teaches in the graduate department of the School of Visual Arts
in New York
• Received Grammy Awards in 2005 & 2010 for his work on the
album packaging of Talking Heads, David Byrne & Brian Eno
