Introduction
• Google Inc. is an American multinational
corporation specializing in Internet-related
services and products.
• Google began in January 1996 as a research
project
• Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey
Brin while they were Ph.D. students at
Stanford University.
Introduction
• Page and Brin originally nicknamed their new
search engine "BackRub", because the system
checked backlinks to estimate the importance
of a site.
• Eventually, they changed the name to Google,
originating from a misspelling of the word
"googol“.
• Google’s headquarters is located in Mountain
View, California, nicknamed Googeplex.

• Google Maps is a web mapping service
application and technology provided by
Google.
• Google Maps provides high-resolution aerial or
satellite images for most urban areas all over
the world.
• Google Maps uses a close variant of the
Mercator projection, so it cannot show areas
around the poles.
Gmail
• Gmail is a free, advertising-supported email
service provided by Google.
• Gmail initially started as an invitation-only
beta release on April 1, 2004 and it became
available to the general public on February 7,
2007.
• It’s competitors are Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL,
etc.

Google Docs
• Google Docs is a freeware web-based office
suite offered by Google.
• Google Docs originated from two separate
products, Writely and Google Spreadsheets.
• It allows users to create and edit documents
online while collaborating in real-time with
other users.
• It can be accessed from the Website,
docs.google.com.
Android
• Android is a Linux-based operating system
designed primarily for touchscreen mobile
devices such as smartphones and tablet
computers.
• Initially developed by Android, Inc., which
Google backed financially and later bought in
2005.
• Android is open source and Google releases
the code under the Apache License.

YouTube partnership program.
