program, wait, open the next,
wait…

10. Have an image on the board as
students enter. They write down
everything that comes into mind.
Sts engage with lesson before it’s
even started.

11. Temptation can be to focus all the
lesson on the IWB. It’s only a tool!

12. Students prepare a video to
present to class. Good practice for
public speaking. Less nerve-
wracking.

13. Remember all those great lessons
you used to do? They’re probably
still great! Why not use them?

14. Always give control of the screen
over to the students. Passing round
a wireless keyboard can help this.

15. Great for literacy. Wander round a
3d environment guided by a
student. Students note down what
they see.

16. Move to the back of the class
sometimes. Students more inclined
to come to the front and use
board.

17. Demonstrating their knowledge
reinforces learning, increases
confidence. If wrong easily erased
(unlike textbook.)

18. (And all the other video sites)
There are so many resources
waiting to be exploited there!
e.g. watch 1 minute of Mr Bean,
then predict what happens next.

film? An animation? Show it to the
class!

use during small group instruction
while teacher is working with
another group.

interactively as a student-centered
resource not just a glorified
overhead or PowerPoints viewer
