Thanks to the low
cost of the raw mate-

processing step pellet
is a cheap fuel, able to
compete not only with
fossil fuels, but even
with the wood itself.
Pellet is an English word, simply meaning “
ball”, even if the "pellet" most commonly de-
ployed today is actually made up of wood cy-
linders with a standard diameter of 8.6 mm
and a length of 2.3 cm.
The wood pellets are produced using waste
from the forestry and wood processing.
Reduced in sawdust, it is compressed and
consequently heated, forcing it through a
die which determines the final appearance.
The heating and pressure activate the bin-
ding activate the gluing capacity of the li-
gnin, a polymer present in the wood together
with the cellulose, with the final result to
give the pellets enough compactness to
enable them to 'be stored, distributed and
used in a much simpler way compared to
other biofuels.

PELLET AS RENEWABLE FUEL
WHY CHOOSING PELLET? TO SAVE MONEY
The convenience of
the pellet is similar
to that of wood, with
indeed some advanta-
ge due basically to ar-
tificial drying, obtai-
ned in the pro-
duction process.
Since the pellet,
is an industrial
product, the
greater or lesser
convenience can
vary over time
depending on the oscil-
lation of prices. of
fuels available. In the
past, the price of pel-
lets has undergone si-
gnificant changes, but
the offer on the mar-
ket in recent years
has greatly increa-
sed and this has helped
to stabilize the price,
which is still growing.

Wood pellets have be-
come an increasingly
popular alternative
fuel source, and are
even more environmen-
tally friendly compared
to coal. In fact, green-
house gas emissions from
wood pellet-based elec-
trical plants are between
74 and 85 percent lower
than those of coal-firing
plants, a University of Illi-

Wood Pellet: the future of heating
Wood pellets manufactured from a
combination of forest andagricultu-
ral biomass is even more environ-
mentally friendly than all
wood pellets; they can reduce car-
bon emissions by an additional 28
to 34 percent. “You can produce
wood pellets not just from forest bio-
mass, but you can also
use agricultural biomass," Professor
Khanna of Illinois University said.
“Agricultural biomass is able to seque-
ster a much more carbon in the soil
while it's growing compared with fore-
sts. And as a result, the greenhouse
gas intensity produced by the pellets
made with agricultural biomass is
much less”

It is not true that it is too late to save our planet, we only need to want it. The Earth is a unique
planet in the universe and as such should be saved because it is home to numerous species of
animals, plants and humans. The first thing to do? A bit 'of good will from all of us.
The first step is the use of renewable energy sources. Coal, natural gas and oil are the main re-
sponsible of climate alterations and should be removed as soon as possible. Wind, hydro, solar,
biomass and geothermal are the way to go! Pellet heating is the best way to be Earth friends!
