Don't get burned! In this second video post of my "How to start an SEO copywriting business" series, I discuss how to ask your clients for a deposit BEFORE you start a writing project.
Whether you're new to freelance copywriting or already own a copywriting business, how to ask for money up front, how to overcome client objections, and how much money you should ask for are important things to know!

business
How to ask for money before you start
a writing project
2. Many new copywriters are afraid to ask
for money...
- They’re afraid that the
client will be “put off” by the
request.
- They’re afraid that they’ll
ask for too much up front
and lose the gig.
- We’ve been brought up to
believe that asking for
money is bad.
3. Reality check: Always get a 30-50%
deposit before starting work.
- Setting up payment terms
is perfectly reasonable and
OK.
- If a new client won’t give
you a deposit and set up
terms, walk away. Don’t
start before the check is
cleared.
- Small (quick) job? Get all
the money up front.
