 Uncover bottlenecks in processes
 Identify where and why the process is not working
POOR PLACEMENT OF STUDENTS
Introduction
 In this challenge we have studied placements process of
students and reasons behind poor placement of students
 We have also tried to find solutions for the problems
discussed
Hypothesis
 This study is restricted to MBA colleges of Maharashtra
state which accepts government common entrance test
scores for admissions

 IDENTIFICATION OF ROOT CAUSES
 Lack of Industry experienced teachers
 Students are taught only theoretical concepts
 Lack of proper guidance from teachers about the industry
 Students are unaware of the current industry trends
 Infrastructure fund used for other purposes
 Poor infrastructure of the college
 Lack of proper facilities and amenities to students
 Low rating of the college
 Companies prefer colleges with good rating
 No efforts taken to identify good placements for
students
 Inefficient networking of the Training and Placement committee
 Lack of knowledge about good companies
 Unwillingness of the TP Cell to find good placements for the students
 RECOMMENDED SOLUTIONS
 Industry experienced teachers
 Recruiting teachers with industry experience
 Arrange sessions for teachers to get acquainted with the current
industry trends
 Arrange guest lectures and conclaves by Industry experts for
students
 Proper use of Infrastructure fund
 Upgrade the facilities and amenities provided to the students with the
upcoming technologies. e.g. 24 Hours wifi in College Campus, E-
Library
 Undertake certain activities to increase the ratings of the college
 Training and Placement Committee
 Provide proper internet facilities to the TP Cell to increase presence
in social media
 Participation of students in the TP Cell activities, this will stimulate
 TEAM LEARNING
 Using the Cause Effect diagram the team was able to find
many causes for the problem ‘Poor placement of the
students’
 With the help of Why-Why-Why logic we were able to
discovered the intermediate causes and the root cause of
the problem
 The college should make the students aware of the different
processes and eligibility criteria of the different companies
 College also must take efforts to increase the overall rating
of the college
 The Training & Placement Cell should increase the
networking and take efforts to get companies in the campus

  • 3. POOR PLACEMENT OF STUDENTS Introduction  In this challenge we have studied placements process of students and reasons behind poor placement of students  We have also tried to find solutions for the problems discussed Hypothesis  This study is restricted to MBA colleges of Maharashtra state which accepts government common entrance test scores for admissions

Poor Rating of College Poor Infrastructure of college Lack of industry knowledge amongst students Students unaware about current industry trends Lack of reading habits Lack of proper guidance by teachers Only theoretical concepts are taught in lectures Lack of Industry experienced teachers POOR PLACEMENT OF STUDENTS Ineffective Placement committee Lack of knowledge about good company’s placement process No efforts taken to identify good placements for students Ambiguity in disclosed details by Comp Inefficient Networking Company wants to decide location and profile after training Company requirements are dynamically changing CAUSE EFFECT DIAGRAM Ineligibility of the students for the company processStudents do not satisfy the eligibility criteria Low performance in academics and extracurricular Lack of knowledge amongst students Poor reading habits

  • 7.  IDENTIFICATION OF ROOT CAUSES  Lack of Industry experienced teachers  Students are taught only theoretical concepts  Lack of proper guidance from teachers about the industry  Students are unaware of the current industry trends  Infrastructure fund used for other purposes  Poor infrastructure of the college  Lack of proper facilities and amenities to students  Low rating of the college  Companies prefer colleges with good rating  No efforts taken to identify good placements for students  Inefficient networking of the Training and Placement committee  Lack of knowledge about good companies  Unwillingness of the TP Cell to find good placements for the students
  • 8.  RECOMMENDED SOLUTIONS  Industry experienced teachers  Recruiting teachers with industry experience  Arrange sessions for teachers to get acquainted with the current industry trends  Arrange guest lectures and conclaves by Industry experts for students  Proper use of Infrastructure fund  Upgrade the facilities and amenities provided to the students with the upcoming technologies. e.g. 24 Hours wifi in College Campus, E- Library  Undertake certain activities to increase the ratings of the college  Training and Placement Committee  Provide proper internet facilities to the TP Cell to increase presence in social media  Participation of students in the TP Cell activities, this will stimulate
  • 9.  TEAM LEARNING  Using the Cause Effect diagram the team was able to find many causes for the problem ‘Poor placement of the students’  With the help of Why-Why-Why logic we were able to discovered the intermediate causes and the root cause of the problem  The college should make the students aware of the different processes and eligibility criteria of the different companies  College also must take efforts to increase the overall rating of the college  The Training & Placement Cell should increase the networking and take efforts to get companies in the campus
