 Polished Concrete- The Definition
Bonded Abrasive Polished Concrete- The processing of the concrete
surface through means of mechanical and chemical processes that uses a
bonded abrasive medium and chemical densifier where each step is refined to its
purest possible form on a microscopic level from one progressively finer abrasive
to the next until the desired level of “polish” is achieved. The chemical densifier
reacts with the calcium hydroxide in concrete to form a crystalline structure in the
pores of the concrete by which hardening the surface of the concrete. Bonded
abrasive polished concrete has the clarity of reflection when looking straight
down overhead, a high gloss finish and the maximum durability the surface will
allow. The clarity will depend on the final abrasive grit; polishing steps are
multiple and finish with 800 grit.

               Diamond Tooling Review

   Metal Bond Tooling
       • Diamond Chips set within metal Matrix
       • When metal wears away from being dragged across
concrete it exposes diamonds. Diamonds slowly
release themselves from the metal and create a
“scratch” in the concrete as they are dragged.
       • Grit Sizes are available from16 grit to 400 Grit. The
lower the number the larger the diamond chip.

       • Initial Grind required-70 Grit Diamonds
       • Saw cut and vacuum all joints

Grout required due to this being a Pharmaceutical Application
DETAILS: MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
  • Grind & Refine Concrete
o Grind Floor with 70 Grit Diamonds
o PLEASE NOTE: The concrete will be examined at this
point to ensure there are no air pockets or voids which
could cause bacterial growth. If required, as an option, a
grout coat is supplied. The Grout coat is GM 3000 -it is
used to seal any voids in the concrete.

  • Hone concrete
        o Hone with 100 grit
        o Hone with 400 grit
  • Apply Concrete Polishing Densifier
o Apply with microfiber pad at rate of 600-800 square feet
per gallon and let air dry
  • Polish Concrete
KEYSTON
o Polish with 800 grit resin bond
• Burnish Concrete
o Burnish Concrete with 27” Propane Powered Burnisher
        and Hogs Hair Pad

    Features, Benefits & Advantages
                   Polished Concrete
• Construction process
o Non-Intrusive (No cure times needed)
o Moisture issues no longer a concern, breathable system.
o Process can be done at night for minimal interruption to
        daily operations
• Proven hygienic floor system
      o Environmentally friendly “green” products.
KEYSTON
• Desirable aesthetics with energy savings
o High gloss flooring not only looks good, but also reduces
         energy costs by reflecting light.
• LEED recognized sustainable flooring system
o Utilizing existing concrete and not purchasing additional
flooring materials has architects and specification writers
         interest with polished concrete.
• Cost saving maintenance
o Reduce operating costs with no need to wax and strip
         floors. Simple cleaning procedures.
• Safe and durable lasting floor finish

COF values well within “Safe” level for wet conditions
