The document describes the game Multo, a multiplication bingo game. Players create a 4x4 grid and fill it with random numbers from 0-81. When multiplication problems are picked that equal a number in the grid, that space is marked. The goal is to mark all four corners to win. Strategies include using numbers with many combinations, like 0, in the corners. Players must choose numbers wisely and double check work to ensure correct answers.
2. How Do We Play?
First, make a 4x4 grid, then fill some random numbers from
0-81. Be careful because if you want to win, you have to
choose your numbers wisely or you will have a high chance
of loosing. One player from each group has to pick the
cards that have multiplication figures. The picker can’t
choose the multiplication figures they want. They have to
pick them randomly. When the multiplication figure’s
answer is one of the numbers in your grid, place a small tick
in the space’s corner. If you get all four corners ticked,
congratulations you win. There are also many other types of
methods to win, but it will take much longer. when all your
four corners are ticked, instead of saying bingo, you have to
say Multo!
3. Strategies To Use
The best strategy is to put the most combination numbers
in every corner. The numbers will stand a high chance of
getting picked or chosen and if all of the numbers in the
corner are all ticked, you win!
4. Numbers Do
We Use
Since Multo is a multiplication bingo type of game, we can
only use numbers 0-81. The best number we can use is 0
because there will be more than 10 ways to getting the
number 0. We also want to use numbers that have many
combinations to it. 0 is a number that has a lot of
combinations to it. I will most probably use the numbers that
has the most combinations to go in the corners because if
you have all four numbers marked in the corners you win.
5. What Numbers We
Don’t Use
Usually the numbers we don’t use is number 81 because there is
only 1 combination to it and that is 9x9. We also don't want to
use numbers like 36 ,49 etc. because they all just have one
combination to it like 6x6=36 7x7=49. We also don't want to use
the numbers 33, 77 etc because the numbers dont have a
multiplication figure to it.
6. How Do You Know Your
Answer Is Correct?
The best way to know you are correct is to double check
your answer or if you are good then you can just do it
without checking, however that way is not going to be
safe. I also know that the number 0 has the most
combinations to it because there is 0x1 0x2 0x3 etc and
also 1x0 2x0 3x0 etc.
7. What Went Wrong/
What Was Difficult?
It will be difficult just to get one number if you don’t think
before you put in the numbers because there will be most
of the combinations with only 2 combinations.
What went wrong in the game is that students got the
answers wrong a few times and they tick the wrong
numbers. Some of them got lucky and got the number on
the corner.
8. How The Problem Was
Solved
This problem was solved using a simple check at the end
of each game. The winner will have to tell the player
picking the cards what are the numbers he/she got and if
they have all the answers correct, they win.
9. What I learnt In This Task
In this task, I learned that we can improve our multiplication speed by playing this game.
I also learned that we don’t always play games that are already done we can make
some simple changes and create a whole new game like Multo. I also learned that we
can always try new stuff out. I also learned that we can always choose the number 0
because there are lots of combinations to it and it stands a high chance of being chosen.
I know this because when I was playing the game, I found out that the numbers 0 is
being chosen most of the time. I also learned that I would never use the number 81 to
put it in my grid because there is just 1 combination to it and that is 9x9. I also found out
that the answers to 1x1 2x2 3x3 etc have only one combination to it so i would never
use the numbers. I also learnt that 33 is also a very bad number to use because there is
no combinations to it. There are also lots of numbers between 0 to 81 that have no
combinations like the number 17, the number 19 etc. I also learned that we can also use
the number 12 more often because unlike other numbers, they only have 2
combinations to it. However, the number 12 have 4 combinations and they are 6x2 2x6
4x3 3x4. The number 24 also works to. It has 4 combinations to it and they are 6x4 4x6
8x3 3x8. These numbers also stand a very high chance of being chosen but the
chances are not higher than the numbers that has more than 4 combinations. In my
opinion, I think we shall put in the numbers that have the most combinations to it in the
corners because the numbers stand a high chance of being chosen and when they are
all chosen, you win. Lastly, I learned that we can learn multiplication in many different
ways like playing games.
