Some of Australia’s animals are Kangaroos, wild
donkeys, desert death adder and many more. There are more
than 40 types of kangaroos in Australia. Small kangaroos
weigh from 6 to 9 pounds and big red kangaroos weigh
around 180 pounds. Big red kangaroos can be as tall as 6
feet. Gray kangaroos can go as fast as 30 miles an hour.
Out of all the birds in Australia, and there are many, the
Emu is the best known. The Emu is about 5 feet tall. The

Some Aboriginal foods are bugs. Bugs were a important
source of for a lot of Aborigines. Some bugs they ate were
insects such as ants, grubs, caterpillars, and moths. Other
ways to get food were by hunting and fishing. When the
Aboriginal people hunted they used spears. Some of the
spears were just poles without spearheads, and others had
detachable spearheads.

7. Living
Aboriginal people build houses near the
water so they can be near the animals they
hunt. Only few of those houses were
permanent. As food supplies decreased or
the water dried up,people moved in search of
new supplies.
The size of a bark house depends on how
many people need to live in the house. The
number of people needed to live in the
house is usually between 6 and 25. Single
men or family groups share 1 house.
