1. How did you attract/address your audience?-Adam scarratt
2. Attracting Target audience! First and for most, the most important componentabout a magazine and its front cover is its Brand Identity, without this recognizable image consumers would be lost to which magazine to buy and to what content it will hold within the magazine.By clearly stating within the name” Rock” and “New music” its evident what the genre of music will be inside and this will therefore attract or turn away readers. However it should attract most audiences because Rock on its on is a mass market and holds allot of sub genre’s of its own, such as alternative, screamo and heavy metal.Information collected by others online indicate that rock is heavily favoured as a genre across the population.http://forums.ilounge.com/archive/index.php/t-60772.htmlOur own questionnaire and forum also suggested the same findings:The graph on the right is the results found from the favourite genre question on the questionnaire, the highest bar on the graph isthe genre of rock clearly showing that the highest interest is surrounded upon the music of Rock.
3. Attracting the audience! The title Rock & Tumble gives the reader a sense of imagery of the demographics of Rock as it plays on the well known Cliché that is Rock and Roll. This not only relates the reader to the genre and gets them interested in the rest of the magazine but also intrigues them with the pun, replacing roll with tumble as tumble refers to more clumsiness and foolishness. And using the set house style of Red, white and black relates to other rock magazines and they also use similar if not the same colours, by following the same conventions of other rock magazines it offers security in an audience because it works for other successful brands already in the market. The small Syntactical choice on the front cover keeps the reader interested and doesn’t send them off on to other magazines. Also on the largest bit of text on the front cover “Edaches epic nights out” the use of alliteration here glorifies the article even further and makes it sound easy and rolls off the tongue even smoother making it more attractive for the audience.By having the main picture mostly centred guides the audiences eyes to this after the brand identity, and by having the image as an action shot it makes you feel as if the artist is actually about to jump off the page with his guitar and thrash around the room your in. This sort of effect is appealing to people as it creates a relationship with the consumer and makes them feel apart of this rock star lifestyle. Also because the other images don't have straight eye contact with the reader it was important that a strong connection between the main image and reader was created in order for interest.Additionally by having the gradient from white to grey at the bottom of the page draws attention to this text box even more rather than the plain laid out text, by boxing it it secludes and contains information that the reader will therefore recognize as important because its boxed and boarded.Furthermore the font used holds universally known connotations of Rock and therefore will attract readers interested in this genre.
4. Addressing the audience! Due to the lifestyle of a rock star we decided to follow this by making the speech informal and colloquial using dialect from the rock scene such as “killa”. This type of speech would make the reader feel as if they had a connection to this lifestyle that they may long to be apart of therefore making it more appealing towards them. The use of different colours on this page highlights different key area’s within the double page spread making it allot easier for the audience to identify key information quickly. The quicker they can find information the better. The article then goes on to talk about the destructive life led by “Edache” using emotive language making it even more graphic which in turn creates an image in the consumers head, images are stronger than words as its depicted in your own way. Also, Taking a quote from the article also summarises the form of the article and displays whether the reader will be interested in reading more.
