Direct and Indirect Speech
Direct Speech (kalimat langsung) ialah kata-kata . kalimat yang di ucapkan langsung oleh di pembicara.
Indirect Speech (kalimat tidak langsung) ialah kalimat yang di ucapkan untuk melaporkan kata-kata sipembicara kepada
orang lain.
Direct and Indirect speech terdiri dari tiga jenis yaitu :
1. statement (pernyataan)
2. command / reguest (perintah / permintaan)
3. question (pertanyaan)

1. STATEMENT
Dalam Indirect statement, kita menggunakan kata THAT (bahwa) sebagai penghubung antara kalimat pengantar
(introduction phrase) dan kata-kata yang dilaporkan (Reported word)
e.g
a. Direct ==> The boy said : 'I am Feeling ill "
Indirect ==> The boy said (that) He was feeling ill
Introductory phrase Reforted words
b. Direct => They told : "We have bought a picture"
Indirect => They told (that) They had bought a picture.
c. Direct => My sister said to me : " I can do my work well"
Indirect => My sister said to me (that) She could do her work well
Apabila introductory phrase yang digunakan dalam bentuk simple present tense, maka kalimat yang dilaporkan
tidak mengalami perubahan.
e.g.
a. Direct => Michael says : " I well do everything myself"
Indirect => Michael says (that) he will do everithing himself
b. Direct => Tony says : "I met shanty at the party last night"
Indirect => Tony says (that) he met shanty at the party last night
