Tradução
“Traduzir nem sempre é apenas
verter um texto para outro
idioma, mas transformá-lo em
informação fácil de digerir”
Mario Persona
Refletir sobre a realidade da tradução, tanto do
ponto de vista teórico, quanto prático.
Para
tanto, visamos desmistificar
certas crenças a
respeito sobre a tradução, abordaremos estratégias
na busca de subsídios na visão de alguns teóricos
sobre o tema.

Não há consenso entre os teóricos da área do que seja
tradução. Para Catford (1980, p.22), por exemplo, "...
tradução é a substituição de material textual de uma
língua por material textual equivalente em outra". Por
outro lado Arrojo (1986. p. 42) cita Derrida (1980, p. 87) ao
advogar a favor de uma definição de tradução como "uma
transformação: uma transformação de uma língua em
outra, de um texto em outro". Já segundo Campos (1997, p.
7), traduzir é "nada mais do que dizer, passar de uma
língua para outra, um texto escrito na primeira delas".

LM= Língua Meta

 Na tradução literal, ou palavra por palavra, passa-se diretamente o LF

para o LM, porém a idiomaticidade e gramaticalidade adequadas à LM são
asseguradas. Os autores ressaltam que este procedimento pode acontecer
em línguas distantes, que em alguns pontos possuam traços extralinguísticos
compartilhados ou convergência de pensamentos, ainda que seja mais
frequente em línguas próximas. (VINAY; DARBELNET, 1958)

O decalque, dividido em dois tipos: lexical e estrutural. Trata-se de uma
espécie de empréstimo, relativo a um grupo de palavras, no qual: a) é inserida

uma nova forma de expressão, sem com isso subverter a estrutura sintática
da LM, e b) é incluída na LM uma nova construção. Em ambos os
casos, traduz-se literalmente cada um dos elementos da LF.
Ex: transposição do adjetivo no inglês.

O empréstimo segundo estes autores (VINAY; DARBELNET, 1958), é o
método mais simples dentre os procedimentos de tradução. Ele ocorre
quando palavras ou expressões estrangeiras são utilizadas pelo tradutor,
geralmente

por

dois

motivos:

a)

para

preencher

uma

deficiência,

normalmente extralinguística, ou b) para garantir no LM a cor local da LF.

Subiu a ladeira. A aragem morna sacudia os xiquexiques e os mandacarus
(p. 15)

Barren Lives by Graciliano Ramos:
As the climbed the slope a warm breeze stirred cactus (p. 11).
Sujestão:
The warm breeze shook the xiquexiques and the mandacarus.
A transposição desmembra-se em dois tipos, obrigatória e opcional. A este
procedimento relacionam-se os casos em que uma classe de palavra é
substituída por outra sem ocasionar mudanças no significado da mensagem.
Saudade = I miss you.
 A Equivalência acontece quando dois textos podem expressar a mesma
situação usando meios estilísticos e estruturais diversos.

“Não faça tempestade em um copo d’agua”
o procedimento de adaptação é o limite extremo, utilizado apenas
quando não é possível reproduzir na LM a situação referida pela
mensagem na LF, pois esta não é conhecida na cultura de chegada. Para
suprir esta dificuldade, o tradutor tem de criar uma nova situação

comparável, ou que seja considerada como equivalente, na LM. (VINAY;
DARBELNET, 1958)

Tradução: Teorias e Práticas

  • 3. Tradução “Traduzir nem sempre é apenas verter um texto para outro idioma, mas transformá-lo em informação fácil de digerir” Mario Persona
  • 4. Refletir sobre a realidade da tradução, tanto do ponto de vista teórico, quanto prático. Para tanto, visamos desmistificar certas crenças a respeito sobre a tradução, abordaremos estratégias na busca de subsídios na visão de alguns teóricos sobre o tema.

  • 6. Não há consenso entre os teóricos da área do que seja tradução. Para Catford (1980, p.22), por exemplo, "... tradução é a substituição de material textual de uma língua por material textual equivalente em outra". Por outro lado Arrojo (1986. p. 42) cita Derrida (1980, p. 87) ao advogar a favor de uma definição de tradução como "uma transformação: uma transformação de uma língua em outra, de um texto em outro". Já segundo Campos (1997, p. 7), traduzir é "nada mais do que dizer, passar de uma língua para outra, um texto escrito na primeira delas".

  • 14. LF= Língua Fonte LM= Língua Meta  Na tradução literal, ou palavra por palavra, passa-se diretamente o LF para o LM, porém a idiomaticidade e gramaticalidade adequadas à LM são asseguradas. Os autores ressaltam que este procedimento pode acontecer em línguas distantes, que em alguns pontos possuam traços extralinguísticos compartilhados ou convergência de pensamentos, ainda que seja mais frequente em línguas próximas.   • 15. O decalque, dividido em dois tipos: lexical e estrutural. Trata-se de uma espécie de empréstimo, relativo a um grupo de palavras, no qual: a) é inserida uma nova forma de expressão, sem com isso subverter a estrutura sintática da LM, e b) é incluída na LM uma nova construção. Em ambos os casos, traduz-se literalmente cada um dos elementos da LF. Ex: transposição do adjetivo no inglês. Lugar de leitura. a)Place of reading. b)Reading place.
  • 16. O empréstimo segundo estes autores (VINAY; DARBELNET, 1958), é o método mais simples dentre os procedimentos de tradução. Ele ocorre quando palavras ou expressões estrangeiras são utilizadas pelo tradutor, geralmente por dois motivos: a) para preencher uma deficiência, normalmente extralinguística, ou b) para garantir no LM a cor local da LF.

  • 18. A transposição desmembra-se em dois tipos, obrigatória e opcional. A este procedimento relacionam-se os casos em que uma classe de palavra é substituída por outra sem ocasionar mudanças no significado da mensagem. Saudade = I miss you.  A Equivalência acontece quando dois textos podem expressar a mesma situação usando meios estilísticos e estruturais diversos. Don’t make a mountain out of a molehill. “Não faça tempestade em um copo d’agua”
  • 19. o procedimento de adaptação é o limite extremo, utilizado apenas quando não é possível reproduzir na LM a situação referida pela mensagem na LF, pois esta não é conhecida na cultura de chegada. Para suprir esta dificuldade, o tradutor tem de criar uma nova situação comparável, ou que seja considerada como equivalente, na LM.
