AVAILABLE WITHIN BLACKBOARD THAT COULD BE USED TO ASSESS STUDENTS’

• EACH SECTION HAS A POOL OF 30 QUESTIONS
• STUDENTS RANDOMLY GET 10 OF THOSE QUESTIONS
• CRITERIA IS SET AT 80% OR ABOVE IS “PASSING” (THAT CAN BE CHANGED BY

WHAT ABOUT THE WORK DONE BY THE TITLE III COMMITTEE? • WORK OF THE TITLE III COMMITTEE WAS PRESERVED AND REBOOTED • CATEGORIES AND CONTENT OF LEARNING OBJECTS IS CONSISTENT • DEVELOPMENT OCCURRED WITH EXTERNAL DESIGNERS AND DEVELOPERS • DEVELOPMENT TOOLS ARE ONES WE ALSO USE INTERNALLY, SO WE CAN UPDATE IT OURSELVES WITHOUT OUTSIDE CUSTOM WORK

WHAT ABOUT THE NEED? • SPRING 2015 SURVEYED FACULTY ON NEED FOR ELEARNING STUDENT PREPAREDNESS • 148 FACULTY RESPONDED – 53% WAS FULL-TIME FACULTY, 47% PART-TIME • 89% OF FACULTY INDICATED THAT IF THERE WAS AN ASSESSMENT THAT WAS AVAILABLE WITHIN BLACKBOARD THAT COULD BE USED TO ASSESS STUDENTS’ READINESS FOR ONLINE LEARNING, THEY WOULD USE IT • 88% INDICATED THAT IF MINI-MODULES WERE AVAILABLE WITHIN BLACKBOARD TO GO WITH THE ASSESSMENTS, THEY WOULD USE THEM • FIND FULL SURVEY RESULTS HERE

ABOUT THE BETA ASSESSMENTS • THERE ARE 5 SECTIONS: (1) BEING A SUCCESSFUL STUDENT, (2) BEING AN ONLINE STUDENT AT TRI-C, (3) USING BLACKBOARD, (4) INTERNET BASICS, AND (5) MANAGING YOUR TIME WELL • EACH SECTION HAS A POOL OF 30 QUESTIONS • STUDENTS RANDOMLY GET 10 OF THOSE QUESTIONS • CRITERIA IS SET AT 80% OR ABOVE IS “PASSING” (THAT CAN BE CHANGED BY INSTRUCTOR) • WHEN A STUDENT PASSES THAT ASSESSMENT AT 80% OR BETTER, THEY GET A DIGITAL BADGE FOR THAT SKILL (OR “ACHIEVEMENT” IN BLAKCBOARD) • INSTRUCTORS CAN VIEW RESULTS AUTOMATICALLY IN GRADEBOOK
