7. Reverse Osmosis:
Osmosis is the natural tendency of water with a low concentration of dissolved particles (pure
water) to move across a semi-permeable membrane to an area of water with a high concentration of
dissolved particles (water with high TDS).When it happens in viceversa then it is called Reverse Osmosis.
Fig. 1:
Initially the level of dilute solution will be high and the level of concentrated solution
will be low. As stated earlier, due to Osmosis process, dilute solution is trying to move through
membrane towards concentrated solution. But membrane will allow only water (H2O) and act
as a barrier for other molecules. Therefore the water (H2O) in the dilute solution is moving
continuously to concentrated solution.
Fig. 2:
After a while the water arrives at the concentrated solution side and other molecules
like virus, bacteria stay in the dilute solution side. So the level of concentration solution
increases.
8. Fig. 3:
After Osmosis process, we have to apply external pressure on the concentrated solution
side to achieve Reverse Osmosis process.
Due to high pressure on top of the concentrated solution side the contents inside the
concentrated solution like water, salt, virus and bacteria and other impurities try to escape to
dilute solution side through the membrane. But membrane allows only water and keeps other
contents in concentrated solution side. This process continuously happens until the pressure
level equals to the level increased in concentrated solution (Fig 2).
Fig. 4:
Then finally we will get the figure as same as fig. 1. After Osmosis we may remove the
waste water from dilute solution side and can do Reverse Osmosis process. If we do like this
way, we can get purified potable water in the dilute solution side at the end of the process.
9. PROCESS OVERVIEW :
Feed solution containing ions, organics and impurities like microorganism, salt etc. is fed
into the spiral wound membrane element. In the output side there are two types named
permeate and concentrate. Permeate part carries pure water and concentrate part carries
brine and other impurities.
10. The above figure shows how Water molecules get separated from other molecules (salt,
micro organic etc.).The feed channel spacer allows feed solution to pass through it. But the
outside of feed channel spacer is covered by membrane. The membrane has a number of holes
of size about 0.0001 μm. So the water can only escape through that holes and other particles
passes straightly and get out as waste water
11. 5 Purification Stages:
It is an advanced 5 stage purification technology comprising of Pre SF + CF + Post SF +
RO + UVM which ensures 100% pure and safe water.
Sedimentation Filter (pre + post):
It is used to remove suspended material like sand, mud, silt (small rocks) etc.
Carbon Filter:
Removes harmful parasites and pesticides
It is also most effective at removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) i.e organic chemicals like
chlorine from water
Removes unwanted color to give clean water
Removes foul odour
12. Triple safety assurance:
Pureit Marvella RO is powered with RO, UVM and ROPL which purifies the water not
once but twice, ensuring you always get only 100% pure drinking water.
Highest Level of TDS Removal:
Pureit Marvella RO removes dissolved impurities in water like heavy metals, rust and
excess salts to turn hard water of upto 2000 PPM into soft and tasty water.
RO Purity Lock System:
It is the added unique feature of Pureit Marvella RO to lock the RO membrane
when its purifying power is over. It ensures that you never have unsafe water.
Advance Alert System:
This unique feature gives you 4 different warnings including a 15-day advance warning
before the RO membrane shuts off.
Large 9 litres Storage Tank:
Pureit Marvella RO has 9 litres of storage tank. So you don't need to fill water in vessels
or water bottles.
Break Resistant Tap :
Fitted at a height to ensure easy filling of bottles and tested upto 50,000 times for break
resistance.
13. Voltage Fluctuation Guard:
This protects your purifier from sudden voltage fluctuation from as low as 130 volts to
as high as 230 volts.
Water Flow:
First the input water is fed into sediment filter to remove suspended material
like sand, mud, silt (small rocks) etc. The output of sediment filter is given to low
pressure switch (LPS).The LPS checks whether the input pressure is in the range
between 5-10 psi. If the pressure is in the range then the water is transformed into
carbon filter. In the carbon filter it removes harmful parasites and pesticides are
removed. It also removes odor and unwanted color in water. Then this water is given to
post sediment filter to remove remaining suspended materials to make sure that there
are no suspended material inside the input water of RO membrane. The pump is used to
pump the water to forward direction. There are two water outputs from RO membrane.
One is purified water which is going to storage tank and another one is brine water
which is ejected as waste water.

17. UV Technology:
Ultra-violet (UV) treatment is the process of passing water in front of a special light
source. The special light source emits UV waves that can inactivate harmful microorganisms.
This method of treatment is growing in popularity because it does not necessarily require the
addition of chemicals.
How UV rays works on harmful microorganisms:
Naturally, Sun has UV rays which have power to inactivate (Note: UV rays do not kill)
harmful microorganisms. Here, the UV lamp is used to produce UV rays which is similar to the
rays produced by the sun, but stronger. These rays alter the Deoxiribo nucleic acid (DNA) of
viruses, bacteria, molds or parasites, so that they cannot reproduce and are made inactivate.
UV treatment does not alter the water chemically. Because we are not using any chemicals like
chlorine to kill the microorganisms. It should be noted that inactivated microorganisms are not
removed from the water. UV treatment does not remove dirt and particles, metals such as lead
or iron, or hard minerals such as calcium. So here we are using two different types of filter
named Pre filter and Mini filter to remove particles, metals and minerals.
18. 3 Stage Purification process:
Pre filter
Mini filter
UV Exposure
Pre Filter:
It is used to remove suspended material like sand, mud, silt (small rocks) etc.
Mini Filter:
It is like pre filter. It is also used to remove sand, mud and makes sure that no suspended
material will enter into the UV purification stage and purify water not once but twice.
UV Exposure:
Here the suspended material free water is exposed to UV rays through Quartz tube.
Water Flow Diagram:
First the unpurified input water is given to low pressure switch to check if the pressure
level is in between (5-30) psi. If the pressure level is in the range then the water will go to pre
filter. Pre filter removes suspended materials. The output of the pre filter is given to mini filter.
It also removes suspended materials to make sure that the input of UV exposure does not
19. contain suspended particles. The UV lamp is placed inside the Quartz tube. It acts as a medium
between water and UV lamp. So that it protects direct exposure of UV rays on water. This type
of filtration is the best in UV filtration. The input of UV exposure is controlled by flow resister.
Flow resister is used to control the water flow inside the UV exposure. So that it maintains the
flow rate about average of 650 ml. Because of this, UV rays can inactivate all the harmful
microorganisms inside the water. Then the output of UV exposure is given to storage tank to
drink.
