You can change the password after you initial login. Learn more on the site gegnir.is
  4. Use the library catalogue gegnir.is to search for printed books and other printed resources. Use the single search box to search for a title, subject or author. For a more detailed search use the advanced settings. Results appear with links onwards into the catalogue that describe where to find the book. By clicking on one of the top links on the page you can choose to search only within the RU-library: Click the link “Library”Find and click Reykjavík University Notice the checkmark to the right by the third resource: the checkmark indicates that this material is accessible electronically. Click the checkmark to view information about the item and from there click the electronically available link.
  5. Ath. Aðeins 1 tækjastika á enska vefnumBy downloading a custom made toolbar made available by LIRU you can shortcut to your searches.Use the buttons (and the arrows on their right) to quickly access information sources. The toolbar contains a shortcut to search directly and only within the RU library. The toolbar works best with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. To get one visit:reykjavikuniversity.is/toolbar Click the toolbar, download and accept everything from then on. For Icelandic students with an Icelandic preference visit:hr.is/taekjastikur
  6. ... or simply visit the information desk Remember to check first to see if the item is available in the library – reykjavikuniversity.is/journals or /databasesThe National and Public library are open to everyone so the interlibrary loan and article ordering does not apply to those services. However, LIRU provides this service for other intstitutional libraries, such as The Central Bank Library and government ministries.
  7. The source on the left is the orginal source, pop star PállÓskar. In the middle is Hjaltalín who made a cover of the popular song.To the right is the band Retro Stefson who, tongue-in-cheek, made a cover of Hjaltalín’s cover of PállÓskar’s version. BibliographyPáll Óskar Hjálmtýsson & Toggi. (2007). Þú komst við hjartað í mér. On Allt fyrir ástina [mp3]. Reykjavík: Pop ehf. Páll Óskar Hjálmtýsson & Toggi (2007). 8. The facebook page is in IcelandicMake sure to check the library’s homepage for announcements.
  9. The facebook account is an ongoing experiment at RU library and pertains, as of now, to the Icelandic student population. The library can suggest using Google translate for speakers of other languages.
  10. Use scholar.google.com to search for scholarly resources. Choose your subject, set the date and include citations to be able to look further in “cited by”.Most important is the link Service@RU.is which allows you to search within RU electronic holdings of resources. Service@RU.is appears with otherwise closed articles and indicates that you can access the article via RU as an RU student or place an order of article with LIRU. Ordering articles is mainly intended for students working on their thesis.
  11. An RU-window appears after you click Service@RU.is on scholar.google.com.At the top you find the article’s bibliographic information: title, author, journal, date of publishing etc. Click GO at the top where it indicates the article has been found. The article opens within the database. For more information or assistance contact the library library@ru.is and bokasafn@hr.is .
  12. LIRU databases are databases of scholarly resources that the library subscribes to and provide you access to. Some databases are in the national consortia (subscription on a national scale) and can be accessed from anywhere within Iceland. Others are databases specific to LIRU (marked + or ~) Familiarize yourself with the databases early on in your studies and ask the library for assistance when needed.
  13. 80% of LIRU’s resources are electronic. 20% of its resources are therefore in print. For some databases, specifically bought in for RU you will need to login via the remote access when working off site. Once you choose your database you will be asked to login in and to add a proxy. Login and agree to add the proxy and you will have access. For more information please visit reykjavikuniversity.is/remoteaccess
