A preposition describes a relationship between other words in a sentence. The
prepositions in, on, and at can be used to describe tome and location. Look at
the picture below to have a better understanding on how in, on, and at are used.

Comparative Adjectives
1. Comparative adjectives compare one
person/thing with another.
Example: The Apennine Mountains in Italy are
quite high.
The Carpathians in Romania are higher.
2. We usually make comparisons with than.
Example: The Carpathians are higher than the
Apennines.
Superlatives Adjectives
Superlative adjectives compare one person/thing
with several other people/things (more than two).
1. Use the before the superlative adjectives.
Example: The Alps are the highest mountains in
Europe.
When changing a word either as a comparative or superlative
adjectives, then you sometimes have to change the spelling as
well..

• Adding –er/-est or more to an adjective makes the adjective strongest. If we
want to make the adjective weaker, we use less/least. The comparative from is
less.
Example: London is less beautiful than Paris. ( Paris is more beautiful than
London.)
• The superlative form is the least.
Example: Alaska is the least populated state in the United States. (All the other
states are more populated.)
• Use less and least with all adjectives: it doesn’t matter how many syllables the
adjectives has.
Example: The Atlantic Ocean is less calm than the Mediterranean.
This lake is the least impressive, I think.
Rewrite these sentences so that they mean the same. Use less or least
1- Nottingham is more dangerous than Oxford.

  • 6. Comparative Adjectives 1. Comparative adjectives compare one person/thing with another. Example: The Apennine Mountains in Italy are quite high. The Carpathians in Romania are higher. 2. We usually make comparisons with than. Example: The Carpathians are higher than the Apennines. Superlatives Adjectives Superlative adjectives compare one person/thing with several other people/things (more than two). 1. Use the before the superlative adjectives. Example: The Alps are the highest mountains in Europe.

  • 9. • Adding –er/-est or more to an adjective makes the adjective strongest. If we want to make the adjective weaker, we use less/least. The comparative from is less. Example: London is less beautiful than Paris. ( Paris is more beautiful than London.) • The superlative form is the least. Example: Alaska is the least populated state in the United States. (All the other states are more populated.) • Use less and least with all adjectives: it doesn’t matter how many syllables the adjectives has. Example: The Atlantic Ocean is less calm than the Mediterranean. This lake is the least impressive, I think.
