  1. WHAT: What – founded in 2004 – structure is an initiative of the Flemish government to improve the competitiveness of the Flemish economy by stimulating entrepreneurial creativity Employers organisations, government representatives, Flemish administration, innovative project organisations, entrepreneurs
  2. 98% of our time we think in a logic way. Of course this is good because we live in a structured society. Logic is often needed and requested. Through education, experience,… we learn how to solve problems in a certain way. In this way we create patterns that allow us to react quickly. Often we are satisfied with this one solution that we have learned, because the problem is solved! Moreover we feel comfortable with this one solution, because we don’t like change. Anti boredom campaign-video This video shows visually how we think-act-react in a logic way. Even if there is no danger!
  3. Zelfs in een andere taal
  4. This shows that our brain is a great pattern creator and a pattern user. We face difficulties when we have to come up with new ideas. Why? Because we rely on the patterns we feel comfortable with and we don’t like change.
  5. So if you want to be creative you will have to burst through these patterns. Be open for new ideas, for your intuition, be nieuwsgierig, try to see the usual, something different in the normal.
  6. If we think in a creative way we are able to solve daily problems to use opportunities to be different from the competitors to improve existing things to inspire new ideas to develop projects Unfortunately we are only creative 2% of our time.
  7. A number of very elementary skills that constitute the foundation for creative thinking can be distinguished. You already apply each of these skills consciously or unconsciously when you think, act, solve problems, or relax. By improving these basic skills, you will dramatically increase your creative potential. You also notice that your confidence and motivation will increase as well. We will now teach you these 5 basic creativity techniques.
  8. Look at this picture what do you see? Two faces, islands, a goat, … a cow. Just like “think”-patterns, we have “visual”-patterns. This patterns also have the tendency to dominate. This can limit us in looking at a picture like this in a different way. Once we have seen the cow, it is difficult to see something else. In our society quite a lot of effort is put into influencing our perception of things. Education, advertising and politics each exert their own influence. We can only see what we THINK is there. So we get ‘used’ to our own vision of reality. The patterns don’t come from the outside, they are firmly rooted in our own perception. Two elements are important when talking about perception: (1) being aware of the fact that we create certain patterns and recognize them and (2) being able to burst through these patterns and looking at something in a different way.
  9. When judging a new idea, it is not necessary to fully understand it right away. The art is to be open and accept the idea, even though the idea might not fit into a certain box. By doing so, you create the space in your mind in which the idea’s potential can develop.
  10. Association happens when one thought generates another: ‘This makes me think of…’. An association chain is a series of associations where you start with one term and freely associate, always postpone judgement as you move from one association to the next. Example: water – drinking – soft drink – summer – beach – sailing – surfing …. Repeat this exercise. Take a word: e.g. “tree” and write down another associative chain for 1 minute. Try to increase your total of associations by 50% compared to the previous attempt.
  11. Images are very powerful constructions that are not easily transformed. Yet you can’t achieve anything new without creating a new supporting image for it. Imagining involves making new images as well as letting go of existing ones. Do you see the two ladies in this image?
  12. The first ideas you think of are generally the most obvious ones. When you continue to find alternatives, you automatically come up against your own thought barriers. Beyond these barriers lies originality. See how many answers you can find spontaneously to a question or a problem. Try to double this number. It may look like a lot but be confident. And postpone judgement Exercise: F = the only consonant A = has a closed space, is the only first letter of the alphabet,… E = has three horizontal lines, open on the right side I = the only one with a dot …
