DM Estimation Parameters for Meter Reading Entry
1. Estimation Parameters for Meter
Reading Entry
This post is about Estimation Parameters which is mentioned during the
customization during Meter Reading.
The Customizing node can be found here.SAP Utilities -> Device Management -> Meter
Reading -> Meter Reading Result -> Estimation -> Define Estimation Parameters for
Meter Reading Result Entry.
Estimation Parameters are mentioned as Percentages (%) and for a result entry itâs
specified according to Company Code and Division.
Log Automatic Estimation is used for logging individual estimations when several
registers are estimated together.
Overest. Fact. Specifies the percentage by which the result shall exceed the expected
consumption. This percentage is only used when a Meter Reading Note is used
during Meter Reading Entry.
OverFactor specifies the percentage by which the result shall exceed the expected
consumption when the transaction EL30 (Estimate Meter Reading Automatically) or
Report RELSCHZ1 is triggered.

Special procedure check box is to trigger the enhancement EDMLELHA (Extrapolation
Procedure for Estimating MRR: Function Module is EXIT_SAPLELHR_003 Include is
ZXELXU10)
So letâs check how the estimations get triggered. The values maintained in the
customizing are

The master data has been maintained. The expected consumption shall be estimated
using Periodic Consumption.
So Expected Consumption for 1 Day is 10 units.
So first we shall see the estimation when triggered by Meter Reading Note. The
percentage value mentioned is 5% of the expected consumption. The Meter Reading is
estimated till 31012011.As we see the periodic consumption comes into play.
10 units for 1 Day * 31 Days =310 units.

Now we shall before saving the Meter Reading enter the Note from Meter Reader as
shown. Press Enter.
An information Popup is shown. The ¶meters are misplaced. It should be device
<device number>, Register<register number>. Press Continue.

The expected consumption has changed.
Estimation percentage in case of Meter Reading Note Entered: 5%
5% of 310 units (Expected Consumption) = 15.50 units.
Net Expected Consumption = 310 units +15.50 = 325.50 units.
Now letâs try with the estimation percentage when EL30 (Estimate Meter Reading
Result automatically) transaction is used.

Select the Device and Press Estimate.
Check the Meter Reading using Transaction Code EL31.
Estimation percentage when transaction code EL30 is used: 10 %
10 % of 310 units (Expected Consumption) = 31 units
Net Expected consumption = 310 units + 31 = 341 units.

So this is how the estimation percentages work.
I didnât try using the Special Procedure (Enhancement EDMLELHA) probably content
for another post âș
