restaurants, serving around 68 million customers daily in 119 countries across 
35,000 outlets 
• The McDonald’s was founded in 1940 by Richard and Maurice McDonald 
• In 1960, the McDonald's advertising campaign "Look for the Golden Arches" 
gave sales a big boost. 
• In 1954 Ray Kroc joined with the two brothers, Kroc suggested 
that they should franchise their restaurants throughout 
the countries.

The positioning strategy of McDonald’s was 
outstanding since the initial stage. They had 
developed a unique image in the mind of 
consumers, they use to develop alternate 
positioning strategy for the different target

The original mascot of McDonald's was a man with a 
chef's hat on top of a hamburger-shaped head whose 
name was "Speedee". Speedee was eventually replaced 
with Ronald McDonald by 1967 when the company 
first filed a U.S. trademark on a clown-shaped man 
having puffed-out costume legs.
