Martin Charles Scorsese born November 17, 1942 is an American film director,
screenwriter, producer, actor, and film historian. He is widely regarded as one of
the greatest directors of all time. In 1990 he founded The Film Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to film preservation, and in 2007 he founded the
World Cinema Foundation. He is a recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award for
his contributions to the cinema, and has won an Academy Award, Silver Lion,
Grammy Award, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and DGA Awards.

This film that I have analyzed starts off with the institutional logo however
there is a diegetic sound that comes with it. this is used so the audience
can focus on the main protagonist who is the one puking into the toilet. If
go up close you are given a extreme close up of the character so we can
read his facial expression as this is important so we understand that him
being on the point is what making him sick. This than lets the audience
know something about this mysterious person. The clothes the character
is wearing suggests us that the theme is the 80s. A sound-bridge is used
than used to lead us to the scene where there are to males having a
conversation, we are than given a match on action and shoulder. These
two effects gives us an insight on the relationship between these two
random guys. This shows the audience that they do not know each by
the way the are looking at each other.

This film opens with an animation which is unlikely for martin scorecese,
there is a use of light and innocent colors which gives out a welcoming
feeling. This than gives the understanding to the audience so they know the
genre of the movie showing it is a family movie which gives the approval of
parents for their children. The mis-en-scene gives out the setting, location
and time the movie was set in (Victorian).At the point when the scene of the
train station you can quite tell there is going to a suspense occurring
because everyone is so awkward. While this is going there is a nondiegetic sound being used so this can create suspense of what's going to
happen next and this also keeps the reader interested because their going
to be excited and thrilled.

supporter of Scorsese, named Goodfellas "the best mob movie ever" and is ranked #1 on Roger's
movie list for 1990, along with Gene Siskel and Peter Travers, the film is widely considered one of the
director's greatest achievements.
