6. Advantages of some of the religious practices to the Environment:
• The yaga’s or Yagna’s which are done with the sacred material will produce the elements
which cause the rains which was proven Scientifically.
• According to Hindu mythology god is in every creature of the universe. Which will make
people do not harm any other creatures which will support in maintain of the Ecosystem.
• In Hindu mythology the creature like pig treated as one of the forms of Lord Vishnu (Varaha
avatar),and Cow is treated as the combination of So many Gods and Goddess. This will cause
the development of sacred feeling among animals to Humans.
• According to Christianity , whole universe is created by Jesus himself. Sacred Bible Also
support the Maintaining Eco balance.

The earth is the LORD'S, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it. For He has
founded it upon the seas And established it upon the rivers.)
• Sacred Quran states"And there is no creature on [or within] the earth or bird that flies with
its wings except [that they are]communities like you. We have not neglected in the Register a

1)Mass bath in khumba mela.
2)Idol Immersion into water
bodies.(God vinayaka and Goddess
Durga )
3)Burning of Narakasura idols On
Naraka chathurdhashi.
4)Burning of crackers which cause
pollution (sound & Air) although it kills
some insects.
8. • Recently, Kumbh Mela (largest religious gathering on the planet) in 2010 at
Haridwar witnessed around 80 million devotees travelling from different parts of
India to take a holy dip in Ganga.
• The annual ritual of immersing idols of Goddess Durga and other Hindu deities
in the Ganga river has threaten the survival of the endangered river dolphin and
other aquatic creatures but also increases pollution in the already polluted river.
• In a recent finding, the scientists have observed that various species of fishes
which helped in keeping the ganga river water clean are facing extinction
due to pollution made by religious practices and industrial waste.
• According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Gangetic dolphins are in grave
danger with their population declining at a rate of 10 percent annually. Rotten
Dead Bodies are one of the major cause behind it.
9. Effect of Islamic Religious Practices on environment:
This tradition accounts for the slaughter of more than 100 million
animals in only two days of Eid. In Pakistan alone nearly 10 million
animals are slaughtered on Eid days costing over US$3 billion.
usually a cow, but can also be a camel, goat, sheep or ram
depending on the region.
Riyadh welcomes Eid Al-Fitr with fireworks display which causes
sound and air pollution mainly in Islamic country like Southey
Arabia.
Killing of animals for presenting their life's to god’s .which cause
imbalance in ecosystems.
Killing of animals for making Haleem which is treated as sacred
refreshment (which is taken in after iftar prayers in Hyderabad)
10. Effect of Christianity Religious Practices on Environment:
>Crackers which blown on new year eve is all over world is creating large
Amount of air pollution and noise pollution.
>Candles which are lighten on churches create small amount of pollution.
>Lights which are made on Christmas
Eve are Made by plastics which effect
soil pollution which are not easily
Degradable in soil.
>Artificial Christmas trees are made by
Plastics and metal components which
Cause the pollution.
11. Measures:-
• Government is also making plans to control the religious practices which effect the
environment. But it is not effectively Done due to Sensitivity of religious Matters in
people.
• Recently in AP, The C.M (Chandrababu Naidu) Gave a call to people to celebrate the
Diwali 2014 without crackers which is done success fully.
• Some organizations and Government is also creating awareness of making idols of
Goddess Durga and Lord Ganpathi with clay which is available along banks of local
water bodies.
• Government also Kept a minimum range for plastics manufacture(usually measured
in microns) for making stars on Christmas Eve and for plastic made items.
• Government is also creating Awareness among the Younger generation on
environment by keeping the “Environmental studies” as a part of studies in various
fields.
