- Main goals of today’s meeting - AC Legacy? More than physical infrastructure it’s a new appreciation for sailing on the Bay and thriving institutions that can continue to build access and facilities to continue to grow Bay Sailing. Membership Outreach for SailSFBay initiatives. We frequently debate whether the America’s Cup hurts, helps or is irrelevant but we don’t often debate what we can do with it. The America’s Cup is what it is and we’re not going to change it. We don’t want to get caught worrying that the Cup isn’t growing sailing for us but should be thinking about how we can turn the attention the Cup generates into attention for sailing. Over the next year and a half sailing, via the Cup, will be receiving a much larger helping of media coverage than normal. That’s an opportunity.
- Unique year ahead. One of the best legacies of the Cup will be people discovering the Bay and sailing. It’s not a physical change but a psychic change.
