7. Social networking & the smart phone
Social can be viewed as both a
“channel” through which to reach
audiences (e.g., Facebook, Twitter) and
a “context” for experiences
(personalization based on Open Graph).
Mobile represents both a “channel” for
experiences (smaller screen, touch-
based native apps) and a “context” for
those experiences (location-aware,
always-on
8. Mobile
Mass media and social media will become
more integrated across devices

17. Thinking Out-Of-the-Box
• Social networks will integrate social data . Imagine an
application alerting you that your friends are near-by,
through a geo-based map. Applications can potentially
track people movements , tag them and help connect up
with friends
• Imagine getting into a driverless car that geographically
finds the location of your friends and steers its way through
!!
• There will no longer be language barriers in human
communication/interaction. You will speak in the language
you choose and the recipient will hear it in the language
he/she prefers. All communication channels (phone, chats,
e-mails etc.) will allow for automatic, real-time language
translations
18. Thinking Out-Of-the-Box
• Social Media will re-define the way we communicate and how we
use technology, watch TV, and live our lives
– Will give the feel of watching TV together with all your friends , being
able to share reviews instantaneously
– Imagine this: your digital video recorder automatically copies a
television show that several of your friends were talking about on a
social network before the show went on air
– You are buying a pair of shoes that you think one of your friends
might be interested in, you can send a picture to their network page
with a couple of clicks on a keypad next to the checkout counter
– Restaurants may be linked to Social Sites and bring you your most
preferred food as soon as you enter
– Interactive walls and windows. Windows can be see as magic windows
which in fact become interactive versions of Skype where people can
see themselves face-to-face
19. the BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE trend
• Concept of bringing your smart phone or tablet
to the workplace.
• Has led to breaches in company security.
• Some companies enforce different internet
connections to separately connect private and
official data on entrance into the office.
• The social networking culture will invade offices.
People wanted to be connected even while at
work. Therefore decreased productivity.

24. MY VERDICT
• Social interaction has changed from landlines, to emails, to cell phones and
now to social networking sites over the past decade.
• 10 years ago, no one ever imagined Facebook or Twitter taking over our
lives
• Technology is ever changing, and it’s up to us whether we use this
constructively or use it to distance ourselves from one another.
• Personally, meeting on a social networking site is not remotely the same as
meeting in person.
• All these advancements are merely passing clouds, which will be replaced
by new platforms over the next ten years after which they will phase out
for something new.
• Change is good and at the end of the day, social interaction would remain
as important as food and water for young and the old alike.
