How are publishers and librarians working together to navigate the challenges posed by the changing academic landscape? As part of this year's IFLA WLIC, SAGE's Consortia/Library Sales & Marketing Director Rosalia Garcia, explored these issues as part of the plenary panel session. The presentation looked at: the challenges faced by both librarians, societies and scholars and how publishers are supporting/adapting to these changes; the challenges of Open Access; how SAGE and Librarians are working together.

At SAGE, we believe passionately that engaged scholarship lies at the heart of any healthy society and that education is intrinsically valuable. This vision drives our business and our actions. We are committed to supporting the scholarly communication chain and that includes being a collaborative partner with libraries. As the landscape for scholarly communication changes, so do our interactions with our library partners.
Libraries are at the heart of what we do as scholarly publishers, putting critical research into the hands of those who can help bring the findings to life. As partners in that journey, weâre committed to building open dialogue between publishers and librarians. Thatâs why weâre proud to sponsor a number of travel grants each year.
This year SAGE published a new white paper investigating how we improve discoverability through collaboration between librarians, publishers and vendors. Drawing from interviews, case studies, and scholarly literature, the white paper assesses the current environment and proposed cross-sector conversations to further visibility and usage of scholarly communication.
In association with LISU (part of Loughborough University), we are facilitating a new report investigating best practice in library and researcher relationships. Find out more about this project at www.libraryvalue.wordpress.com
