  2. Zooms into picture of Steve Biko Steve Biko was one of the charismatic men during the anti-apartheid movement and was one of the few people (as is often the case when it comes to reform) to understand that the mentality adopted by a person is the fulcrum on which hinges that person’s actions. A mentality which resists propaganda and tell others to do so as well is what leads to freedom from tyranny. The reason why I have highlighted this particular quote of his “The most potent weapon in the hand of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed” is because this quote encapsulates something which MPACers MUST fully understand. The reason why the mind is the most powerful and potent weapon in the hand of the oppressor is because this allows the oppressor to dictate what is right and what is wrong. It also allows the oppressor to define the boundaries of what a person should do or not. Just look at the slaves during the slave trade. They used to make slaves defecate on each other, would rape the female-slaves infront of the slaves and kill anyone that stood up to them so that they could hit home the idea that the slaves were nothing and inferior. Eventually they were so successful in their spreading of their message that as future generations came along, they started to BELIEVE that they were meant to be slaves and that this was how they were supposed to live their lives. NOTE: It was thanks to reformers like Steve Biko that terms like “Black is beautiful” were coined. He got the ball rolling on the fact that a people cannot stand up for themselves if they aren’t proud of who they are, who they were and what they will be.
  3. Zooms into the word “Psychological” and then into the picture of a gateway This is to supplement what is seen in the vid, that psychological attacks are powerful as they are the gateway to further attacks . They are gateways in the sense that: Convince the general public that it is right to attack the Muslims and Islam Convinces the Muslims themselves that they are deserving of these attacks and that they have an extremism problem etc Unless Muslims are taught how to counter the propaganda being spewed out, then current crop of Muslims and generations of Muslims to come will doubt Islam and begin to hate it Also, it is important to remember that in Muslim culture it is a taboo to leave Islam openly, so very few will say that they are no longer Muslims, but in their actions and in their thoughts they will no longer be Muslims. Islam will be just a nametag for them and nothing more. When the attacks get worse on Muslims physically and psychologically, these people will leave Islam. Young children will grow up hating Islam because they will always have to be apologetic about the actions done by their “extremist” brothers Furthermore, it will (and is) dividing the community into the “moderates” and “extremists”
  4. Zooms into “Physical” and then “Psychological” The point of this is to highlight that oppression has two forms but that the more powerful type of oppression is the psychological oppression . Physical oppression is clearer to see, and easier to quantify (i.e. How many dead, raped, bombed, starved etc) but it must be remembered that this is not possible without psychological oppression making it justifiable in the eyes of the general public , AND convincing the Muslims being oppressed that they deserve it.
  5. Zooms to the political map and then to a vid The point of this is highlight that Muslims are being oppressed all around the world. I put a map in just to give some perspective – only Greenland has no history of oppressing Muslims (mainly because it’s a piece of land made up mainly of ice!) The video is one of a Tea Party seminar talking about how they must try to control the medium, thus controlling dialogue and thus controlling thoughts and actions. It’s just to hit home that they are a movement, just like MPACUK aims to be, and they (from their head guys to every foot soldier) takes these actions because of the power of changing a person’s mindset.
  6. Zooms into map, then into MPACUK logo and then into the 3 Rs Here I’m trying to highlight that there is a solution in the UK – MPACUK. Our job consists of the following: Restoration This means restoring our people’s pride in their history, present and future. No people can move forward if they are not proud of who they were and what they can go on to achieve as well (our people must see themselves as inheritors of the legacy of great Muslims) Re-orientation Our people must be re-orientated to believe in one vision – freedom. If our people do not have the same goal then we will not be able to have a sustainable fight against those who seek to oppress us. Also we need our people to be re-orientated in the sense that they must stop seeing themselves as the bad-guys. Our people are the victims of aggression, not the aggressors – we have to make our people understand this. Re-education We need to re-educate our people to understand that Islam is about action and that politics is a part of Islam and a part of Jihad. This is very important as it creates a paradigm shift – i.e. You can’t be a Muslim unless you partake in Jihad and stop oppression. Note: MPACUK already does this, but the reason why I have phrased it like this is because in the charter of Malcolm X’s organisation – the Organisation of Afro-American Unity (OAAU) – used these terms and it’s important for MPACers to understand that we are following in the footsteps our great mujahideen before us
  7. Zooms out to pic of Steve Biko and then to quote The quote is: “ The power of a movement lies in the fact that it can indeed change the habits of people. This change is not the result of force but of dedication, of moral persuasion.” This quote is there to highlight that all great leaders of movements have understood this. It links back to advocacy and how unless we are out there acting on the 3 Rs then our movement and our Ummah are doomed.
