The UK government is offering £1,500 grants to eligible businesses that hire apprentices. The grant is for businesses that have not employed an apprentice in the last 12 months. Priority is given to smaller businesses but grants are available to those with up to 1,000 employees. The apprentice must be aged 16-24, work at least 30 hours per week, and be paid the minimum apprentice wage. Businesses can receive the grant for up to 10 apprentices as long as they confirm how many they will hire and the start dates. The £1,500 payment is made after the apprentice completes 13 weeks on the job.
