What is the purpose of an
INTERVIEW?
 To select a person.
 To collect information.
 To counsel.
 To monitor performance.
 To exchange information.
 On-campus Interviews.

Discuss the different types
of INTERVIEW.
 Job interviews: They are usually format and
structured.
 Information interviews: One person asks a list
of question.
 Persuasive interviews: The persuader asks
about the other person’s needs.
 Exit interviews: To understand why the person is
leaving the job.
 Evaluation interviews: It gives an employee
feedback in his or her performance.
 Counseling interviews: It is about personal
problem that are interfering with work
performance.
 Conflict-resolution interviews: To explore the
problems and attitude.
 Disciplinary interviews: To correct the behavior of
a employee.
 Termination interviews: A supervisor informs an
employee of the reason for the termination of the
latter’s job.
 Telephone interviews: It is not just a phone call,
but is a basic business instrument which has
proved to be very essential.

How to make
preparation for an
INTERVIEW?
 Go through a Mock-Interview.
 Gather adequate inside information.
 Dress appropriately.
 Be prepared to ask questions.
 Memorize your resume.
 Be punctual.
 Relax.
 Typically consists of 2 – 3 rounds of
interviews
 Interviews last between 30 – 45 minutes
 Mix of general, behavioral, situation/case
questions
 If possible, wear a suit to the
interview.
 Belt and shoes should be same color.
 Avoid ties with elaborate patterns or too
many colors.
 A wedding ring and/or watch is generally the
only jewelry that should be worn.
 Head to Toe: Hair should be well groomed
and shoes should be polished.
 A suit or dress is preferable.
 Skirts should meet at the top of the knee or
longer.
 The amount of jewelry should be minimized.
 Make-up should be light.
