2. Nikon D3000
This was the DSLR camera that I used when taking my photos, I had to ensure that I
knew how to use at least the basics which consisted of using the auto focus and the
zoom ability by twisting the lens. These were the basic features that I needed when
doing my practical.

3. SLR Tripod
The tripod was shown to us and we were expected to use this in the safest way
possible removing certain specifics to make it easer to attach the camera and making
sure that the leg clips are clicked into place not only correctly but also tightly so that
we prevent any accidents with the camera and prevent hazards within the studio and
class.

4. PAG Light
The pag light a mini light which can be used for many different situations. It consists of a
relatively large power pack which should be worn around you when using the light. One
precaution which must be taken before using is that you must pre warn the staff that you
will be need to use it 24 hours before using it as it takes 8 hours to charge the power pack.
When using the pag light it gets reasonably hot therefore you must be careful not to touch
the areas where it is hot and you are advised to use the attachment increasing the
distance from the ‘hot spots’ on the device. There are three different light modes you can
visualise with the pag light, one being, a normal ray, another being bright light and lastly
one of which is natural (coloured). When you finish using this pag light, you must close all
the lenses and remove the cable to result in maximum safety around this piece of
equipment.

5. Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is a graphics editing program developed and published by Adobe
Systems, students use this programme to edit the photographs they have taken, or even
better can edit pictures that have already been taken for example, images off Google. There
are many different features on Photoshop for example you are able to crop pictures, use
filters, brushes and many more things such as add text. Lastly Photoshop is one of the most
popular editing programmes however it can often crash therefore saving your work is
priority, so you work will not be lost, also Photoshop files must be backed up on a second
hard drive copy for example a pen drive.

6. Fronter
Fronter is used by many schools nationwide which allow all of us students to access and
communicate with teachers on and off time table. What’s more is that it is a good way to
display our coursework in a mini website layout which can be easily accessed by the teachers
therefore feedback can be given at any specific time. This can be accessed anywhere by both
student and teacher so they can do the work home or at school. Lastly all the tasks needed to
be done can be accessed on Fronter so if you end up missing a lesson, tasks can be caught up
on in your own time to get back on track with your coursework.

7. Three Point Lighting
We used 3 point lighting to remove any shadows. As simple a equipment it sounds it
was one of the most dangerous and students using and around it had to be careful
because the rear shell of the bulb will get VERY hot therefore we had to be careful
when using or even walking near it. This was important because it made the
background in the studio very bright making it easier to edit when the photo had
been imported on the computer to Photoshop.
