Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat consists of mostly Malays The Southern Thailand was used to be ruled by Muslims Then, the Thais attacked and try to conquer the Muslims Rebellions within the Pattani against the Siamese rule were at 1791 and 1808 An Anglo-Siamese treaty of 1909 was then signed between the Great Britain and the Thailand History of Southern Thailand and how they are being treated
The Thais has successfully conquered the Muslims in the 17th century The  Siamese government started to  emphasize the usage of Thai language in after 1910 The south provinces are also served as a dumping ground for corrupted civilian and military officials Disagreement and misunderstanding within them which started violence History of Southern Thailand and how they are being treated

Lack of freedom, human rights and justice Schools had been seen as a representative of the Thai Government, thus students and teachers had been killed as the Muslim believe that it will impose the Buddhist Thai culture Government workers also being targeted by assassins Several other foreign as well as local news channels was banned from broadcasting news that is negative to the military Social Inequality
Lack of Human rights by armed political groups such as deliberate attacks on civilians which includes killing innocent civilians Muslim men, including religious teachers and those graduated from universities in Muslim countries, have the higher rate of becoming “blacklist” of being the supporters of the insurgents Majority employees of the  Local government administration are Buddhists Social Inequality
Muslim are being outnumbered by the Buddhist Thai The above chart shows the income rate during the 1960s and 2000 It shows that during the insurgency period, the income and gross regional product had a great fall in percent  Social Inequality
What was not right with Thailand in 2000? Prejudice and Discrimination Prejudices Leading to Discrimination By Lee Yu Xian Samantha
On 4 January 2004, at an army depot in Narathiwat province, there are 4 soldiers being killed by a group of 50 and more Muslim militants whom also took more than 300 weapons and 20 schools are being burned In October 2004, the TakBai incident happened and killing 84 Muslim demonstrators On 2 January 2010, there are 3 soldiers and 3 civilians being injured by a roadside bomb at the Yala Province South Thailand Insurgency
A population of 63 million people in Thailand and 90% of them were Buddhists A very small percentage of Muslims in Thailand Mostly, the Thai Muslims are settled at the southern part of Thailand such as Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat The Thai Muslims does not know how to communicate in Thai. They are mainly speaking in Malay Thai Muslims are also regarded as second class citizen Prejudice leading to discriminations
The Thai Malays are also forced into learning Thai and becoming one They are also told to identify themselves as Thai Muslim instead of Malay  Muslim The corrupted Thai government’s response to media or locals are able to provoke violent reactions from the Thai Malays Prejudice leading to discriminations
The disregard the Thais have for the Malay ethnic group and their language Lack of human rights for the Malays and the political and government structure Muslims were then discriminated and doesn’t have their rights and stand Prejudice leading to discriminations
Thai Muslims are also not being well represented in the public sector and in high status It also known to have the knowledge of Thai language in order to have the positions The Thai Muslim has no standardized Muslim syllabus. It is left to their religious teachers Therefore, Thai Muslim will feel the frustration and that causes them to join the separatists group Prejudice leading to discriminations
