- The humour behind this comic strip is the fact that Lucy isnʼt listening to Charlie reading
the letter out, instead she is more focused on the fact that Linus didnʼt write to her.
Panel 1
The first panel is a long shot of Charlie and Lucy which sets the
scene of the comic strip. Both characters are shown from a side
view (profile shot).
Panel 2
The second panel is contrasted as the backdrop of the panel is
different to the first panel and the shot is now a close up. Removing
the scenery in the background and replacing it with a single colour
is done to detach the characters from what is around them whilst
they are in conversation, which helps focus on what is being said.
Lucy is shown at a profile view and charlie front on.
Panel 3
The third panel returns to the original backdrop. This is done so the
reader is reminded of where the characters are. The shot is
changed to a mid shot with Charlie at a side view and Lucy front on,
the opposite of panel 2.
Panel 4
The backdrop again changes to a single tone, but a different colour.
This is also done to break up the continuity of the comic strip. Both
characters are shot from the side, just like panel 1, however this
time they are shot close up. Charlie finishes off the letter whilst
Lucy is still angry that Linus didnʼt write to her.
