Aviation Spouse Day – 3 Jun 2011
What is Aviation Spouse Day?
Aviation Spouse Day is a day of fun, filled with activities to allow spouses the opportunity to
experience “a-day-in-the-life-of-an-Army-Aviator.”
Who can participate?
All spouses stationed at Fort Rucker with their Soldier (Active Duty, Guard, NG, Reserves, and Air
Force).
How will you select the 26 spouses?
In order to make sure the process is fair to everyone who wishes to participate, there will be a
lottery-style drawing of all registrants to select the 26 lucky spouse participants. The drawing will
be held on 6 May at 0900. Registration is open until 4 May at 12 Noon.
Why do only 26 spouses get to participate?
There are many logistical elements to hosting such an event. The logistics, as well as group-size
restrictions for some of the individual events requires us to keep the group small.
How often will the Aviation Spouse Day be hosted?
The Aviation Spouse Day event is a first-of-its-kind, and with all new things there are lessons
learned. We hope to begin by offering the event twice a year, with hopes of even considering once a
quarter.
What will participants receive?
All participants will receive first-hand experience of some of the training required of an Army
Aviator, and a commemorative t-shirt. At the completion of the day’s events, participants who
completed all events will earn their “wings” at a graduation ceremony, pinned by the Installation
Commander.
