 Tweet – A 140 Character message that you share with your

 Retweet (RT) – Sharing someone else’s tweet to your
audience.
 @username – Name of the follower, or user. When you are
mentioning them in your message, you do it with @ and their
username. Other users will be able to click on that username
and view their profile
 DM – Direct Message, only you and that follower will see that
tweet when you direct message them.
 Hashtags, # - Created by twitter users to categorize topics. If
you hashtag in front of a tag, you will show up on twitter search
results when someone searches under that topic.
 Tweetup – When you meet a group or someone in person as a
result of initiating via twitter.

networking site, it’s roots are embedded in the academic
and corporate arena and is a valuable tool for networking.

  • 2. What’s the deal with Social Media? Social Media is a waste of time I don’t want to connect with old friends, let the past be the past. Social Networks are too complicated to figure out I don’t want anyone to know what I’m doing anyways I’m too busy, I have to do real actual work

The Three C’s of Social Media  Create Create an effective profile that lets your users know who you are and gives provides a your selling proposition when someone is scanning through profiles  Connect Include all your contacts, past and present, as they are your vehicle to other contacts. Connecting will also share a symbiotic relationship to the conversations you hold on line  Converse Engage with your audience by entertaining, educating, promoting others, and continuing your connections

  • 9. Create An Effective Profile on  Summary – provide a descriptive summary of your value proposition and how you can benefit your network and contacts.  Specialties – Provide specific keywords that describe your services and expertise.
  • 10. Create An Effective Profile on  Applications- Make your profile stand out with applications that link with your other online content. Other applications include Slide Share (which allows uploads of presentations and video) WordPress, Amazon Book Reviews, Online polls, and much more.

Lingo  Followers – Other users who follow your messages.  Tweet – A 140 Character message that you share with your followers.  Retweet (RT) – Sharing someone else’s tweet to your audience.  @username – Name of the follower, or user. When you are mentioning them in your message, you do it with @ and their username. Other users will be able to click on that username and view their profile  DM – Direct Message, only you and that follower will see that tweet when you direct message them.  Hashtags, # - Created by twitter users to categorize topics. If you hashtag in front of a tag, you will show up on twitter search results when someone searches under that topic.  Tweetup – When you meet a group or someone in person as a result of initiating via twitter.
  • 25. Create An Effective Profile on •Your Name, your site, and who you are in 140 Characters. Profile Picture, try to keep it recognizable and uniform to your other profile pics on the web. A count of how many are following you and how many you are following. Make your twitter profile feature your business, and add a side bar. This is not provided by Twitter, but there are many who provide, Twitback.com is one.
