2. Almost Famous (2002)
• From looking at IMDb
stats, the budget for this
films was $60,000,000
with a gross of
$32,522,352 (US) and
£1,229,382 (GB). This is a
very large amount of
money both put into the
film and how much the
film earned from the
audience. This amount of
money shows that the
audience for this film is a
mass audience.
3. Almost Famous – type of audience
members/fans
• From this screenshot of a review of the film,
(http://finnclark.thiswaydown.org/Review/AlmostFamous.html),
I noticed the author wrote that they are not the target audience,
that the are musically illiterate, and that the movie itself was
about rock and roll. This demonstrates that the target audience
for this film is people who are interested and listen to rock and
roll music.
4. Almost Famous – type of audience

• From this screenshot of a review of the film on IMDb
(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0181875/reviews-133), it says
that this film in fact doesn’t have to be liked by just rock and roll
fans to be successful, but that the film is liked by non-rock fans
too. It says that the film has no specific target audience, which
suggests that anyone from teenagers to adults can like this movie,
therefore it has a mass audience.
5. Whiplash (2014)
• Again, looking at IMDb
stats, the budget for this
film is only $3,300,000
with a gross of just
$13,939,392
(worldwide). This shows
that the film’s audience is
niche because it didn’t
make as much money as
Almost Famous for
example. This is more of
the film that my film will
be like, as it is low-
budget.
6. Whiplash – type of audience
members/fans
• This screenshot is from
https://www.cineaste.com/articles/emwhiplashem , which says
that the target audience for this film is predominantly male, as
both main characters are male themselves, which is true for my
film too. This means that the target audience for my film will most
likely be predominantly male. The music in this film is Jazz music
and the making of music itself, so an audience interested in this
music may find this film their type, however the protagonist is a
young male, which could attract women, therefore the audience is
wide but also niche at the same time because of the music genre.
