Boy 1 loves football and has played since he was 6. While all his friends play for the local Baldock team, he plays for Letchworth. His friend argues that refurbishing Buffs Park in Baldock would greatly benefit the many children and teenagers who use it daily. It would also help the Baldock football team, which currently has poor facilities limiting its progress. The plan is described to refurbish the run down building into changing rooms and storage, and re-do the whole field to be suitable for playing football. Boy 2 believes this would attract new players, more community interest in sports, and make Baldock a nicer place overall. Boy 1 admits he would even consider moving teams, as the changes would

1. SCRIPT
(BOY 1 is sitting at the park)
BOY 1: My name is …….. I live in Baldock town and have done for all of my life.
I’ve played football since I was 6; my dad got me into it from a young age and
I’ve loved the sport every day since. (Goes to scene of him playing football)
Football is the first thing I think of when I wake up and it’s the last thing I think
of when I go to sleep, I can’t imagine my life without it. (Goes to scene of him
walking down the high street) All my friends have a go at me because they all
play for Baldock and I play for Letchworth. (He meets his friend) For example
my friend …….. who I’ve known for ages plays for Baldock, and every time we
play each other there is always that extra bit of hunger to win for both us
cause we know that if one of us loses, the person who win will be talking about
it for a long time.
(The shot is then them walking into the park and then them both sitting down)
BOY 2: It would make a massive change if Buffs Park is refurbished because so
many children and teenagers use it on a daily basis and also it would be very
beneficial for the Baldock team because at the moment we don’t have the best
facilities. Plus at the end of the day there is only so much a team can progress
with such poor facilities.
BOY 1: Do you mind if we ask you what you are planning on doing specifically?
CAMERA MAN: Err yeah sure; you see the run down building over there. (You
see the boys playing football together) We will be turning that into changing
rooms and storage for items that will be used for the local team such as
footballs, flags and things for the pitch that cut the grass and paint the lines.
We will also re do the whole field so it is suitable for, well playing football on
really.
(Back to the boys sitting down)
BOY 2: That would change so much we would get new players, you’d get more
people interested in the sport and I’d reckon it would make Baldock look like
friendlier and nicer place In general. You might even move teams.
2. BOY 1: You know what I actually would; I mean if you done everything you just
said there it would be like a dream come true.(Pause) It would be life changing
for everyone.
