The
Clifton Heights Music
Festival
The focus of this project was to create a fresh,
visually stimulating design for a two day festival
that would be displayed across a spectrum
of promotional mediums. It was imperative
that informative graphic content sustained
readability on elements that ranged from a
25 foot banner to a half page advertisement,
while at the same time serving as a guide to the
locations of the venues and the performance
times of the bands.
Through a series of meetings and concept
sketches it was decided to take a more literal
approach to the word “Heights”. The extrusion
of text was a play on words that created the
il usion that the logo was growing off the page,
conveying a sense of kinetic energy. I felt the
representation of that motion brought a more
visual appeal to the static environment it was
placed in. The color choices were informed by
a spring time palette reflecting the festival’s
April date. The separation of color became a
graphic tool of communication that created a
clear distinction between performance days,
while organizing text.

The
and
POSTER DESIGNS
Being a musician myself , I am excited to have
the opportunity to meld my passion for music
and design. Living in such a musically driven city
such as Cincinnati, I find that it is very important
for a musician or band to have visually
APPEARING LIVE stimulated conversations with their audience.
I strive to create rich il ustrative designs to
exist above the poster laden environments
they wil be placed in. This practice is a way
for the artists to successfully inform about show
dates while leaving a lasting impression in the
viewers’ mind .

7. ILLUSTRATION
These Il ustrations are a representation of my abilities
that extend beyond electronic boundaries. Too often
do I feel a designer educated in the practice of using

abilities of the hand. My adept understanding of
drawing helps when creating preliminary sketches,
while my understanding of painting aids in color
compositions. This also exemplifies my potential to
bring a more stylistic approach through an illustration
if necessary.

8. LIBRARY MURAL
project
The Cincinnati Main Branch Children’s Library
approached the Art Academy of Cincinnati in
hopes to activate the front entrance of their
space. A team of students, which included myself,
was assembled to carry out the task. The theme
was to be, “Story Book Characters Throughout
History”. The mission was to make the mural an
educational experience for the children entering mural layout sketch
the library, while igniting a desire to investigate
these characters further once inside. I took away
a more developed insight into creative thinking
and problem solving in a team setting.

BABA BUDAN’S
This project presented the task of exploring
a new expression of an existing identity. It
was important to the client not lose elements
of the old logo to help lessen customer
confusion with the already established
branding. There was more of a need to have
the logo be informative about location and
the establishment’s duel role as a bar and
as a coffee shop-- something that was not
previously presented.
I approached the variety of other printed
materials required for the project, with
the idea of breaking visual boundaries. I
concluded that it would be an appropriate
divergence from the enclosed emblem of
the main logo, to create a dynamic sense of
movement found in other design elements
such as the menu titles. It was also a way to
bring a more modern, interesting reinvention
of their existing material.
