2. BIOGRAPHY
Born as Norma Jeane Mortenson the June, 1st of 1926 in Los Angeles, California. She was
an actress, model, singer, and a major sex symbol. (Also known as Andy Warhol’s muse)
She lived with a number of foster parents because her mother was mentally unstable,
and after those years, she began her career as a model, which led her to a film contract.
3. EARLY LIFE
• Marilyn’s mom, Gladys Baker, was mentally unstable and financially unable to take
care of Norma Jean, so she gave her to forest parents Albert and Ida Bolender.
Marilyn lived with them until the age of 7 when Gladys took her away of them, but,
shortly after, she began a series of mental episodes that made Gladys's best friend,
Grace McKee became her guardian.
4. Mckee got married and, horribly, sent Norma Jean to an orphanage, and then, after also
living in some foster homes, she moved with her great aunt Olive Bruning, where she
got raped by his son. In 1938, she lived with her aunt, and then she moved back with
Grace and Doc Goddard.
At 16, she escaped of her old life by marrying Jim Dougherty, an aircraft plant worker.
Subsequently, Monroe moved in with Dougherty's mother.
5. EARLY WORK
She started working in the Radioplane Munitions Factory.One day, a client suggested
her to apply to The Blue Book Modeling Agency, which she did, and she then appeared
on many magazine covers. Ben Lyon,a 20th Century Fox executive got interested in her
but with his team, they created a new name for her. Marilyn Monroe
6. BREAKTHROUGH
In 1948, Monroe signed a six-month contract with Columbia Pictures and studied
acting. She appeared in Ladies of the Chorus the same year, which made Columbia
drop her. After appearing in small parts in films including 'Love Happy' and 'All About
Eve', Monroe found fame in 1953 with 'Niagara', 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' and 'How To
Marry a Millionaire'.
