2. Freshmen Social Studies Requirements There are no Freshmen social studies requirements …… BUT…… Freshman year would be a great time to take the 1 semester Social Studies elective that will be required for graduation. We have a few suggestions!
4. Asia Emphasis is placed on the development of the unique histories and cultures of China, India, and Japan. Students learn about current global and geographical issues that emerge from this region. Asia’s importance in global economics and politics will be a key focus. Students will also build on social studies skills to create a foundation for future high school success.
5. Due to popular demand…… We will also be offering – Middle East Studies during the 2011 – 2012 school year.
7. Middle East This course is a regional study of the geography, history, economic, political, and current issues involving the Middle East. The Middle East as defined in the class will not only include the core nations of the region (Jordan, Israel, Iraq, etc.) but also other Muslim nations in the area. Students will examine the unique geography and culture of this area as well as current events .

13. What are the Social Studies Requirements at BVSW? Sophomore – Either History of the Western World OR AP European History Junior- US History OR AP US History Senior – Am. Govt. OR AP US Govt. and Politics And a one semester Soc. St. elective taken anytime - 9 -12
