Questions:
 Essential Question: Why do we need
  language?
 Unit Question: Why do some letters make
  different sounds?
 How does it help us to list the alphabet in a
  certain order?
 Content Question: Why are some letters
  vowels?
 Why are some letters consonants?
Summary
 In this Unit we will learn the alphabet. We
  will learn the sound(s) that each letter
  makes and learn why some letters make
  more than one sound. We will use
  examples with certain words such as
  animals, food, places, etc to help
  pronounce our letters correctly. Lastly we
  will learn about vowels and consonants and
  learn the difference between them.
Role of the Teacher
 My  role will be to teach the students as
  much about the alphabet as possible
  through songs, stories, games, and other
  examples.
 I will help students speak their letters
  correctly which will in return help them
  speak words correctly. This will then help
  them make it easier for them to learn to
  read and write correctly.
Role of the Parent
 Your job will be to make sure your child
  comes home and practices the alphabet each
  day.
 A good way is through flashcards you can
  do this with them to make sure they are
  pronouncing the letters and the words
  correctly.
 Another good practice is through
  technology games such as leapfrog which is
  program that children enjoy that teaches
  them in a fun way.
Role of the Student
 The student’s job is simply to pay
 attention in class and go over their
 alphabets as much as they can at home
 and at school.
Benefits of this Unit
 This  unit benefits students because it
  helps them say their pronounce their
  letters and words correctly.
 This then leads students to reading and
  writing correctly because once they learn
  how speak their letters they will also know
  how to sound them out which will make
  it easier to read and write.
Standards for this Unit
 Standard(4) Use words that describe
 and represent real-life objects and
 actions.
Objectives for this Unit
 Students  will learn to pronounce letter
  names and words properly.
 Students will learn to read letter
  names and words properly.
 Students will learn different sounds
  for the letters.
 Students will learn the difference
  between vowels and consonants.
Project Based Learning
 Project Based Learning is when the
  teacher guides the students into what
  they should be doing, but the student
  has to figure it out what they should
  be learning for themselves.
 Students will learn through fun actives
  and projects is what project based
  learning is.

  • 2. Questions:  Essential Question: Why do we need language?  Unit Question: Why do some letters make different sounds?  How does it help us to list the alphabet in a certain order?  Content Question: Why are some letters vowels?  Why are some letters consonants?
  • 3. Summary  In this Unit we will learn the alphabet. We will learn the sound(s) that each letter makes and learn why some letters make more than one sound. We will use examples with certain words such as animals, food, places, etc to help pronounce our letters correctly. Lastly we will learn about vowels and consonants and learn the difference between them.
  • 4. Role of the Teacher  My role will be to teach the students as much about the alphabet as possible through songs, stories, games, and other examples.  I will help students speak their letters correctly which will in return help them speak words correctly. This will then help them make it easier for them to learn to read and write correctly.
  • 5. Role of the Parent  Your job will be to make sure your child comes home and practices the alphabet each day.  A good way is through flashcards you can do this with them to make sure they are pronouncing the letters and the words correctly.  Another good practice is through technology games such as leapfrog which is program that children enjoy that teaches them in a fun way.
  • 6. Role of the Student  The student’s job is simply to pay attention in class and go over their alphabets as much as they can at home and at school.
  • 7. Benefits of this Unit  This unit benefits students because it helps them say their pronounce their letters and words correctly.  This then leads students to reading and writing correctly because once they learn how speak their letters they will also know how to sound them out which will make it easier to read and write.
  • 8. Standards for this Unit  Standard(4) Use words that describe and represent real-life objects and actions.
  • 9. Objectives for this Unit  Students will learn to pronounce letter names and words properly.  Students will learn to read letter names and words properly.  Students will learn different sounds for the letters.  Students will learn the difference between vowels and consonants.
  • 10. Project Based Learning  Project Based Learning is when the teacher guides the students into what they should be doing, but the student has to figure it out what they should be learning for themselves.  Students will learn through fun actives and projects is what project based learning is.
