           in Malaysia
• The economic and job market are constantly changing
  at a very fast rate
• Manufacturing and other economic activities are
  rapidly shifting to China and India
• Internet facilities are changing students’ learning habit
• The students are digital native
• Universities are expected to commercialise its research
  products
• Changing of Malaysian economic base from agriculture
  >> manufacturing, to high–tech >> knowledge-based
  >> entrepreneur-Innovation based in a very short time
OBE

• Student-centered learning
• Empirically measuring student performance,
  which are called outcomes
• It requires that students demonstrate that they
  have learned the required skills and content
• Often incorporate a host of many progressive
  pedagogical models and ideas, such as block

  1. I am very sure that we all conviced that the world is changing very fast. The new knowledge now may be obsulete in five years. The most attractive job today may diminish tomorrow. Expertise becomes commodity. Large fund is transferred to other countries within a few second or by a mouse click. In Malaysia; The economic and job market are constantly changing at a very fast rate Manufacturing and other economic activities are rapidly shifting to China and India Internet facilities are changing students’ learning habit The students are digital native Universities are expected to commercialise its research products Changing of Malaysian economic base from agreculture to manufacturing, to high–tech >> knowledge-based >> entrepreneurship >> Innovation-based in a very short time. Our society is actually changing at a very fast rate to an innovative society.
  2. In preparing our graduates to face the future, let’s see the required attributes:
  3. In UKM, we exemined all our programs’ curriculum in 2008 and this is the summary of our finding
  4. Beside curriculum, lecturer quality, ICT enrichment and learning experiences must be in tendem with requirement of curriculum delivery. The quality of education will not exceed the quality of the lecturer. For this purpose we revamped our training modules and introduced a compulsory program for the lecturer in 2010. Our learning management system (e-learning system) was upgraded in 2008 and the whole campus, about 1000 acres, became a WIFI zone.
  5. In early 2010, the senate approve Student Totoal Learning Experience Policy. The main aim of the policy is to prepare our students to be in compatible with Society 3.0, well rounded graduates with the highest achievement in cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains as well as in emotional and spiritual quotients. The challenge is to transform ourselve as lecturers to become integrated learning experience designers.
  6. Learning everywhere, anytime, any palce. Our 1000 acre campus becomes learning space and broad band WIFI zone
  7. As more project based and collaborative learning, the students learn from each other. Most of the time they can synthesis new knowledge and offer new solutions that we have never think of.

  9. Langkawi Geopark, for example, is the place where UKM students carry out their research on geology, tourism, empowerment of local population economically and small industries. The research products are utilised to develop Langkawi Island in a sustainable way. These activities contributed significantly to World Geopark status in June 1, 2007 by UNESCO.
  10. Bandar Baru Bangi is other example of living laboratories. It is used by urban transport, architecture, urban design, electronic, education, social study and economic students. The research activities are carried out and implemented immediately in this town. For example, research in urban transport management system and smart camera were conducted and the research output are now implemented to manage urban transport and crime prevention in this town
