2. Our goal is to bring Joy and comfort to
children in the hospital through
entertainment, arts and crafts, puppet
shows, and the use of laptops.

3. EVALUATION OF OUR PLAY THERAPY.
The children will verbalize a decrease
in their anxiety level.
Staff will also visually see a decrease
in the children’s stress level.

4. Over the last year we have surpassed our goal of
helping over 1,000 children who have been
diagnosed with cancer!
- In interacting with the children during arts and
crafts, we have witnessed tremendous success
in alleviating some of the worry associated with
their hospitalization.

5. Several studies have found that play
therapy can lower heart rate, blood
pressure, and breathing.

6. GOALS -
The goals of Helping Hearts is to have an outlet for children
who have been diagnosed with cancer and to
communicate their feelings when they feel a loss of
control and anxiousness.

7. FUNDS SEEKING
The Helping Hearts is seeking $ 16,000 to maintain and
upgrade our existing supplies. We are seeking 14 new
puppets, 10 laptops, training for new employees, and
replenishing our arts and crafts room.

9. Future of The Helping Hearts
Our goal is to have The Helping Hearts
Organization in 5 different hospitals around
Pennsylvania within the next two years.

10. STAFF
Rachel Fowler – CEO brings first hand experience dealing with a life
threatening illness. She was diagnosed with a heart condition birth and
spent several months in a hospital. She bring personal commitment to
this endeavor and is in charge of the development and operation of The
Helping Hearts.
Kelly Hall – Wrote a paper on play therapy and the therapeutic effects it has
alleviating stress. She has worked at the Hershey cancer clinic for three
years and is a licensed play therapist.
Jessie Wall – Licensed social worker and holds a Master’s Degree from
Harvard.
Felicia Tague – Licensed social worker and has worked extensively with
children with cancer.
