Baiqie chicken is one of the simplest in Cantonese cuisine, using only
water to boil without any extra flavor. It tastes fresh and light,
keeping the original taste of the chicken. Its cooking method is
easy.

The skills for roasting this valuable and rare banquet dish go back
more than 1400 years. There are two main roasting methods. The
first one keeps the skin smooth, using a low fire and only a little oil.
The second melts the skin. It uses a big fire and oil is smeared on
it continuously.

Take by taxi from airport to GUANGZHOU CIty is about RMB 100.
Guangzhou: Getting Around

It's quite easy to get around the city, as it's well connected by
public transportation. Most people in Guangzhou don't have a car
and rely on public transportation, which is good -- ensuring
efficient public transportation network -- and not good at the same
time -- you'll need to compete with the locals, as public
transportation are usually very busy and crowded.
As a foreigner trying to explore the city, especially for the first
time, you need to be realistic. Guangzhou, like many other Chinese
cities, is not very foreigner-friendly about providing English road
signs. Despite efforts to make signs bilingual in recent years, they
remain little help for foreigners. However key tourist attractions
are reasonably signposted.
By bus
Especially because of the language barrier, using the bus. isn't
recommended. All bus stop names and routes are in Chinese, making
it almost impossible for foreigners to get directions. And the audio
instructions are in Chinese, so it's hard to know when to get off. In
addition, it's usually crowded, and pickpockets are common.
Finally, a lot of streets in Guangzhou are one-way, so it's unlikely
you'll find the return bus on the same street where you got off.
Having said that, if you're certain about the bus route (e.g., if
staff in the hotel you stay at give you clear instructions on which
bus to take and which stop to get off), you will find using the bus
convenient, as the bus network is very well-constructed. Buses are
very cheap too. Most routes cost RMB 2, some at RMB 1. Majority
of the buses are air-conditioned, but the ACs are likely to be off
during the winter months for obvious reasons.
If you do choose to take a bus, be aware of the strong possibility
of pickpockets. Also, you'll need to have the exact fare, e.g., RMB 1
or RMB 2 in notes or coins--no change will be given on the bus.
There's no need and thus nowhere to buy the bus ticket, as all you
need to do is to drop the money to the box by the bus driver's seat
when you get on the bus.
For the bus routes, you can browse the following website -- in
Chinese:
http://www.gz-bus.com/chaxun/
By Metro
The Metro is very convenient, especially during the peak hours
(7-9am, 5-8pm) to and from the city centre.
Line 1 started running in 1998, and there are currently four lines
for Guangzhou Metro up running as in the end of 2008.
Constructions are undergoing up to Line 9 by 2010. Metro stations
can be easily identified with the Guangzhou Metro's ram-horn-
shaped logo (see example
here: http://www.gzmtr.com/qygk/gsjs/sjxx/ ).
Guangzhou Metro cost in average RMB 2 per three stops. For the
main tourist attractions and markets, you won't need more than
RMB 4 one way. To buy the Metro ticket, you can either get it from
the ticket both at the Metro stations or from the automatic ticket
machines nearby. The ticket machines are bilingual, as the route
maps and audio instructions on the train.
Metro trains are clean and well ventilated, and is popular with the
locals.
The official website for Guangzhou Metro
is http://www.gzmtr.com/en/, from which you can find routes, time
tables and fares.
By taxi
Getting around in Guangzhou by taxi is also very popular with the
locals as the fare is rather reasonable. Currently the fare is RMB
2.6 per kilometre, but the minimum fare is RMB 7 (for 2.3 km) plus
RMB 1 standard petrol surcharge, which is a local way to tackle the
surge of petrol price since 2006. So don't be surprised that the
taxi driver asks you for RMB 13 when the metre is actually RMB 12.
Within the city, it's 99.9% the case using the metres. In fact, taxi
drivers will be severely fined if they don't use the metre. The only
exception would be going to and from the airport, although it's
rare too unless you're going from the airport to outskirt of
Guangzhou or other Peral River Delta cities. Usually it costs about
RMB 100 from the Guangzhou Baiyun Airport to downtown such
as Garden Hotel/Huan Shi Lu, including RMB 15 for the airport
highway charge.
Within the city, if you get around by taxi, it's best to have your
destination written down by someone in Chinese, because almost no
taxi drivers speaks English. Write it down as specific as possible.
You'll notice the taxis are in different colours, yellow, red, blue,
green and champagne. The fare is all the same but, as locals would
tell you, the drivers aren't! The locals will tend to choose the taxis
in yellow as this company's drivers are all locals so allegedly they
know the roads better, e.g. short cuts, whereas other taxi
companies' drivers may come from other part of China and may be
taking you for unnecessary distance sometimes -- of course, mostly
unintended. So, if you believe the locals, your sequence of taxi
choice would be: go for the yellow ones if you can -- they're very
popular!; if not, then the blue ones; then the red ones; your last
choice is the green ones. Believe it or not!
A final tip for taking the taxi is always ask for the receipt from
the driver before you get off the taxi. Just in case you leave
something behind in the taxi, you'll have the number -- taxi number
and customer service number to trace the taxi.
By bicycle
It's not feasible for tourists, as you won't find places letting
bicycles very easily. Also, contrary to the trend in many Western
countries, they're reducing the use of bicycles here in China, at
least it's true in Guangzhou. Bicycle riders usually find themselves
in a disadvantage position on the road as buses often occupied the
already very narrow bicycle lane, and following the cars and their
waste gas so close isn't the most pleasant bicycle riding in
Guangzhou. Another factor that may put you off for riding a
bicycle in the city is bicycle thieves which are not uncommon at all.
And, lack of secure or guarded places to park your bicycles doesn't
help either!
By foot
You can try but it's not advised, as the tourist attractions are not
close to each other.
It's however a good idea to explore the city by foot in certain
pedestrianised streets, such as Beijing Lu, Shang Xia Jiu Lu, both
being shopping streets.

                          Guangzhou Taxi

At present, there are 84 taxi companies in Guangzhou with more
than 16,000 taxis in different colors, including the colors of yellow,
blue, maroon and gold. Among those taxis, the yellow taxis of the
Baiyun Taxi Company, the blue taxis of the Guangjun Group and the
maroon taxis of Guangzhou Transportation Group are the most
reputed.

A Guangzhou taxi charges CNY7 for the first 2.3 kilometers (1.4
miles), and CNY2.6 for succeeding kilometers. CNY1 is claimed as
the fuel surcharge. You can bargain with the driver if you take a
taxi at night. From Guangzhou Railway Station to Guangzhou New
Baiyun International Airport, the taxi charge costs about CNY100;
from Guangzhou East Railway Station to Baiyun Airport, you need
to pay about CNY150; from Guangzhou Railway Station to
Guangzhou East Rail Way Station, the taxi fee is around CNY25;
from Fangcun Bus Station to Baiyun Airport, about CNY120 would
be paid.
Tips: 1. It is very difficult to see an empty taxi in peak hours. In
order to find an empty taxi more easily, you can wait at the special
pick-up points for taxis. With the number of more than 230, the
special pick-up points for taxis are signed and very easy to find.
2. Taxi complaint hotline: 020-83600000.

Guangzhou Taxi
Taking taxi is the most common and convenient way for
transportation inside the city.
There are almost 17,000 taxies served in Guangzhou now.
The taxi charges CNY7.00 for the first 2.3 kilometers
(1.4 miles), and CNY2.60 for succeeding kilometers. Since
Nov. 2005, all taxi passengers have been required to pay
a fuel surcharge of CNY1.00 yuan per ride.

During the period of Canton Fair, more than 4,000 taxies
will be put into Canton Fair transfer service. It will be
safe to take a taxi in Guangzhou . But it will be smoother
if you could be aware of some tips for getting around
Guangzhou city.
Guangzhou: Taxis & Rental Cars

Taxis are abundant, and a great way to get around. While not
luxurious, they are convenient, and available at almost all train
stations, hotels, tourist spots, and along the roads. Fares are based
on the meter, unless you negotiate a set fee before getting in. Do
keep in mind that fares are higher from about 8 PM to 6AM.it is
difficult to take cab in the rush time, but opposite in night. Many
drivers do not speak English, so have your destination written down
in Chinese beforehand. And always carry the name of your hotel
written in Chinese, as well.
Renting a car is more difficult, and generally not advisable. Foreign
driver’s licenses are not acceptable, crowds can be prohibitive, and
roads are often difficult to navigate. Plus, traffic signals are
displayed in Chinese characters, and lights are few and far
between. You can, however, charter a taxi on an hourly basis, or
hire a car and driver for the day. For more information, check with
your hotel or CITS (China International Travel Service) office.

Guangzhou overview
A maze of contradictions, Guangzhou's upmarket malls and slums
sit side by side. Taxis prove the least intimidating way to negotiate
this sprawling city and its congested traffic. Tree-lined Shaiman
Island, popular with prospective adoptive parents from overseas, is
ideal for shopping, strolling or a meal. The vast Qingping street
market is not for the faint-hearted: cats, dogs and anteaters are
among creatures slaughtered on the spot. The Flowery Pagoda
provides more peaceful contemplation.

                  Getting Around Guangzhou city
Car Rental, Bikes, Taxis, Buses and Tuk Tuks

is a fairly compact city, with many of the attractions
Guangzhou city
within easy walking distance of the main hotels, and each other.
Walking around is Guangzhou city a great way to appreciate its antique
charm. An afternoon spent wandering the twisting sois (alleyways)
of the old city is a pleasant way to lose yourself amidst genuine
Thai life.

If you don't wish to walk there are still plenty of ways to get
around. Guangzhou city he song thaews are the ubiquitous red open-air
busses that constantly orbit the moat. These hover somewhere
between taxis and city busses and are a cheap, if slow, method for
getting around. A lot flashier and faster are the tuk-tuks, three
wheeled, open-air taxis. These generally crowd in ranks near the
major hotels and tourist areas. They are a lot quicker than the
song thaews but a little more expensive.

Car and motorbike hire are also readily available and having your
own vehicle is a great way to explore some of the landmarks and
attractions just outside of. If Guangzhou city you're taking any kind of
day tour or package tour, then don't worry about transport; almost
every hotel and travel agency provides some kind of transport
service.

Car Hire
Car rental is readily available in. Guangzhou city is, Budget and Hertz
all maintain locations in Chiang Mai and there are many smaller local
companies offering rental services at competitive rates. Vehicles
on hand range from small commuter compacts to four wheel drive
jeeps and trucks suitable for exploring the rugged countryside.

To rent a car or truck in Guangzhou city u will need a valid passport and
a valid driver's license. Many companies will require an international
driving license, while many others will accept a valid license from
the renter's home country. All rental companies provide insurance
with their vehicles, including third party liability. Be sure to read
your rental agreement carefully, however, and make sure that you
keep a copy with you at all times.

Tour Available: Car Hire

Chiang Mai Car Rental
We provide a wide range of models, with variety of sizes and styles
to suit your requirements. All vehicles are under 2 years old.
Vehicle service check is made prior to every rental. The fleet guide
below provides an indication of the size and style of car available
for each rental group. Read more...

Song Thaew
Song Thaews are the standard means of travel for most residents
of Guangzhou city. Cheap and readily available, they are perfect travel
within the main city. Most Song Thaews drive along standard
routes but are more than happy to take you to a specific
destination. Flag the driver down and ask where he's heading. If
your destination lies in the same direction, then hop in and signal
him when you want to get off.
The fare for most destinations in the city center is about 10-20
baht. If you want to go to a specific destination then you should
negotiate the fare beforehand. In general, expect to pay about 30
baht for a trip within the city center.

Tuk Tuk
Tuk Tuks are a second option for traveling around Chiang Mai.
These colorful, three wheeled vehicles are an unofficial symbol of
Thailand. If you are traveling somewhere outside the main city
area, or are in a hurry, then a tuk tuk is a better option than the
slower song thaews. Tuk Tuks can be found near all of the major
hotels and tourist areas such as the night bazaar and Moon Muang
Road. Make sure to negotiate the fare before you climb in. For a
ten minute ride a tuk tuk should cost about 50 baht.

Motorbike Hire - Bike Rentals
If you want the freedom of your own vehicle but don't want the
expense of renting a car, then motorbike hire may be for you.
There are several large motorbike rental companies in Chiang Mai
and almost every business in the tourist areas will have a bike or
two for rent. The most common bikes are 100 or 125 cc Hondas.
These bikes are reliable and easy to drive. The cost is about 100
baht per day, with discounts available for weekly or monthly rental.
Many of these bikes do not include insurance and for those that do
you will need an international or Thai driving license to file a
successful claim.

In general, if you are involved in a motorbike accident with a Thai
person you will be held responsible 90% of the time. Having said
that, Chiang Mai is a fairly safe place to ride a motorbike,
especially compared to the rest of Thailand. If you wish to ride
something a bit more substantial than a Honda scooter then there
are a number of companies that specialize in 'Big Bikes'- road
bikes, touring bikes and dirt bikes.

Bicycle
Many people prefer to explore under their own power on a push
bike. Bicycles are a cheap and enjoyable way to see the sights of
the city and there are often group bike rides that take in the
major landmarks. If you're looking for some thrills there are
plenty of rough mountain trails that wind down from the nearby
mountain tops. Most of these end up at Huay Thung Tao reservoir,
perfect for a dip and some lunch after a long trail ride.

Other Car Rentals
Phuket Car Rental, Malaysia Car Rental, Koh Samui Car
Rental, Langkawi Car Rental,Kuala Lumpur Car Rental, Bangkok Car
Rental, Pattaya Car Rental, Chiang Mai Car Rental, Hua Hin Car
Rental.
Taxis & Rental Cars
In relatively small town with only one main street so, walking is
always a good option for getting around. However, in the midday
heat you will want to consider hailing one of the numerous taxis
found everywhere in town 24/7. Legal and insured taxis are easily
recognized as they are all Red with a Yellow upside down Triangleon
the doors.
Fares are very low priced . You can ask what the fare will be
before getting in a cab or when you get in the taxi the driver will
just run the meter. Any trip within town will run between $2.00 -
$3.00 (1000-1500 colones).
If headed to neighboring by Hermosa Beach, a taxi ride will cost
you between $8.00-$9.00 (4000-4500colones)
To Call a Taxi to your Hotel/Condo/Home- Call 2643-2020. The
dispatcher will answer in Spanish, but will likely speak a little
english, just speak slowly and clearly to them.
*NOTE* If you have more than 3 people in your party, ask for a
Taxi "Grande" and they will send a 6 passneger SUV Taxi. If you
don't ask for a Grande, they will send a Toyota Corolla or mid sized
sedan.
Accepts all major credit cards.

Guangzhou: Getting Around It's quite easy to get around the city, as it's well connected by public transportation. Most people in Guangzhou don't have a car and rely on public transportation, which is good -- ensuring efficient public transportation network -- and not good at the same time -- you'll need to compete with the locals, as public transportation are usually very busy and crowded. As a foreigner trying to explore the city, especially for the first time, you need to be realistic. Guangzhou, like many other Chinese cities, is not very foreigner-friendly about providing English road signs. Despite efforts to make signs bilingual in recent years, they remain little help for foreigners. However key tourist attractions are reasonably signposted. By bus Especially because of the language barrier, using the bus. isn't recommended. All bus stop names and routes are in Chinese, making it almost impossible for foreigners to get directions. And the audio instructions are in Chinese, so it's hard to know when to get off. In
  • 24. addition, it's usually crowded, and pickpockets are common. Finally, a lot of streets in Guangzhou are one-way, so it's unlikely you'll find the return bus on the same street where you got off. Having said that, if you're certain about the bus route (e.g., if staff in the hotel you stay at give you clear instructions on which bus to take and which stop to get off), you will find using the bus convenient, as the bus network is very well-constructed. Buses are very cheap too. Most routes cost RMB 2, some at RMB 1. Majority of the buses are air-conditioned, but the ACs are likely to be off during the winter months for obvious reasons. If you do choose to take a bus, be aware of the strong possibility of pickpockets. Also, you'll need to have the exact fare, e.g., RMB 1 or RMB 2 in notes or coins--no change will be given on the bus. There's no need and thus nowhere to buy the bus ticket, as all you need to do is to drop the money to the box by the bus driver's seat when you get on the bus. For the bus routes, you can browse the following website -- in Chinese: http://www.gz-bus.com/chaxun/ By Metro The Metro is very convenient, especially during the peak hours (7-9am, 5-8pm) to and from the city centre. Line 1 started running in 1998, and there are currently four lines for Guangzhou Metro up running as in the end of 2008. Constructions are undergoing up to Line 9 by 2010. Metro stations can be easily identified with the Guangzhou Metro's ram-horn- shaped logo (see example here: http://www.gzmtr.com/qygk/gsjs/sjxx/ ).
  • 25. Guangzhou Metro cost in average RMB 2 per three stops. For the main tourist attractions and markets, you won't need more than RMB 4 one way. To buy the Metro ticket, you can either get it from the ticket both at the Metro stations or from the automatic ticket machines nearby. The ticket machines are bilingual, as the route maps and audio instructions on the train. Metro trains are clean and well ventilated, and is popular with the locals. The official website for Guangzhou Metro is http://www.gzmtr.com/en/, from which you can find routes, time tables and fares. By taxi Getting around in Guangzhou by taxi is also very popular with the locals as the fare is rather reasonable. Currently the fare is RMB 2.6 per kilometre, but the minimum fare is RMB 7 (for 2.3 km) plus RMB 1 standard petrol surcharge, which is a local way to tackle the surge of petrol price since 2006. So don't be surprised that the taxi driver asks you for RMB 13 when the metre is actually RMB 12. Within the city, it's 99.9% the case using the metres. In fact, taxi drivers will be severely fined if they don't use the metre. The only exception would be going to and from the airport, although it's rare too unless you're going from the airport to outskirt of Guangzhou or other Peral River Delta cities. Usually it costs about RMB 100 from the Guangzhou Baiyun Airport to downtown such as Garden Hotel/Huan Shi Lu, including RMB 15 for the airport highway charge.
  • 26. Within the city, if you get around by taxi, it's best to have your destination written down by someone in Chinese, because almost no taxi drivers speaks English. Write it down as specific as possible. You'll notice the taxis are in different colours, yellow, red, blue, green and champagne. The fare is all the same but, as locals would tell you, the drivers aren't! The locals will tend to choose the taxis in yellow as this company's drivers are all locals so allegedly they know the roads better, e.g. short cuts, whereas other taxi companies' drivers may come from other part of China and may be taking you for unnecessary distance sometimes -- of course, mostly unintended. So, if you believe the locals, your sequence of taxi choice would be: go for the yellow ones if you can -- they're very popular!; if not, then the blue ones; then the red ones; your last choice is the green ones. Believe it or not! A final tip for taking the taxi is always ask for the receipt from the driver before you get off the taxi. Just in case you leave something behind in the taxi, you'll have the number -- taxi number and customer service number to trace the taxi. By bicycle It's not feasible for tourists, as you won't find places letting bicycles very easily. Also, contrary to the trend in many Western countries, they're reducing the use of bicycles here in China, at least it's true in Guangzhou. Bicycle riders usually find themselves in a disadvantage position on the road as buses often occupied the already very narrow bicycle lane, and following the cars and their waste gas so close isn't the most pleasant bicycle riding in Guangzhou. Another factor that may put you off for riding a bicycle in the city is bicycle thieves which are not uncommon at all.
  • 27. And, lack of secure or guarded places to park your bicycles doesn't help either! By foot You can try but it's not advised, as the tourist attractions are not close to each other. It's however a good idea to explore the city by foot in certain pedestrianised streets, such as Beijing Lu, Shang Xia Jiu Lu, both being shopping streets. Guangzhou Taxi At present, there are 84 taxi companies in Guangzhou with more than 16,000 taxis in different colors, including the colors of yellow, blue, maroon and gold. Among those taxis, the yellow taxis of the Baiyun Taxi Company, the blue taxis of the Guangjun Group and the maroon taxis of Guangzhou Transportation Group are the most reputed. A Guangzhou taxi charges CNY7 for the first 2.3 kilometers (1.4 miles), and CNY2.6 for succeeding kilometers. CNY1 is claimed as the fuel surcharge. You can bargain with the driver if you take a taxi at night. From Guangzhou Railway Station to Guangzhou New Baiyun International Airport, the taxi charge costs about CNY100; from Guangzhou East Railway Station to Baiyun Airport, you need to pay about CNY150; from Guangzhou Railway Station to Guangzhou East Rail Way Station, the taxi fee is around CNY25; from Fangcun Bus Station to Baiyun Airport, about CNY120 would be paid.
  • 28. Tips: 1. It is very difficult to see an empty taxi in peak hours. In order to find an empty taxi more easily, you can wait at the special pick-up points for taxis. With the number of more than 230, the special pick-up points for taxis are signed and very easy to find. 2. Taxi complaint hotline: 020-83600000. Taxi Companies guangzhou taxi - www.pandalimo.com +86 152-21524287 Maroon Cabs 020-86231800 Guangzhou Taxi
  • 29. Taking taxi is the most common and convenient way for transportation inside the city. There are almost 17,000 taxies served in Guangzhou now. The taxi charges CNY7.00 for the first 2.3 kilometers (1.4 miles), and CNY2.60 for succeeding kilometers.
