• Strategies
• "Modern" houses come in various stripes, this one is more
minimal, quiet, understated
• Our decision not to try upstage with garage addition, defer
to the original lines
• We weren't looking for a "counterpoint" approach, though
deck is more contemporary
• Contrary to Dept of Interiors Standards for Rehabilitation
• Small moves and refinements versus big moves
• Rehabilitate finishes where possible; other finishes such as
tiled surfaces were replaced
• Make the kitchen a more important element of the house,
placed on the lake side; kitchen hidden before
• Spirit of the original house
