RIAZ GUL SHEIKH
 Pakistan came into being on 14t August 1947 as an independent sovereign state.
 After the separation of Sub-continent into two states Pakistan and India, it was
decided that Defense assets would be divided between tow states India and
Pakistan by 60 and 40%.
 Indian leaders who opposed to transfer any ordinance factory to Pakistan, and
Pakistan did not get any weapons or equipment which was decided before.
 So at the time of independence, Pakistan did not have a single military unit.
 In 1971, the defeat of Pakistan in Bangladesh war lead Pakistan to develop its
own nuclear power, because on the other hand India was near to test its 1st
nuclear weapon.
 24 January 1972, President Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto issued orders that Pakistan should also
acquire the nuclear power as it has become important for our country before that, the
Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) was set up in 1956, so that it could
participate in the Atoms for Peace program.
 Dr. A. Q. Khan was employed from 1972 to 1975 by the Physical Dynamics Research
Laboratory (FDO) in Amsterdam, which was a subcontractor to Ultra-Centrifuge
Nederland (UCN)
 In January 1976 Khan left the Netherlands for Pakistan abruptly. A.Q. Khan initially
worked under the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), headed by Munir Ahmad
Khan.
 The PAEC under M. A. Khan went on to develop Pakistan's first generation of nuclear
weapons in the 1980s
 With continuous struggles and efforts Pakistan successfully tested its 1st nuclear weapon
on 28th May 1998, becoming 1st Muslim nuclear power in the world.
Currently Pakistan has three major forces which include Army, Navy and Air force.
Beside these three main forces there are also some other paramilitary and special
service forces.
1) The Pakistan Army is the largest branch of the Pakistan military, and is mainly
responsible for protection of the state borders, the security of administered
territories and defending the national interests of Pakistan within the framework
of its international obligations. Current COAS is General Raheel Shareef.
2) Pakistan Navy is the naval warfare branch of Pakistan Armed Forces, responsible
for Pakistan's 1,046 kilometers (650 mi) of coastline along the Arabian Sea, and
the defense of important civilian harbors and military bases. Currently the
command of Navy is headed by Admiral Asif Sandila.
3) PAF is the air warfare branch of the Pakistan Armed Forces, primarily tasked with
the aerial defense of Islamic Republic of Pakistan with a secondary role of
providing air logistics support to the Pakistan Army and the Pakistan Navy.
 Pakistan army is one of the best and 6th biggest Army of the world. Currently
Pakistan has 550,000 active on duty troops and 500,000 reserved troops, total
105,000 man power capacity.
 Pakistan army commandos are claimed to be one of the toughest forces on the planet
and have cam 3rd place with the us green berets 1st place and British seas 2nd place.
 In terms of equipment and man power India, Russia and U. S may be ahead of us,
but when we talk about spirit and bravery they are way far from Pakistan army,
remember ISI is the number 1 intelligence of the world and our nuclear program is
far better than India which are lead by Pakistan army personals.
 World's Best army is no other than PAKISTAN ARMY, As Spirit.
 USA Said that With my weapon and Pakistan Army Spirit I can Conquer the whole
world
 In current days according to my point of view Pakistan army is ranked a no1 in the
world. If you see the history of Pakistan army you will see that Pakistan army face a
7times bigger Indian army more than 3 times defeat Indian army 2 times 1965 and
1999 kargil war. No other army has such records even US army.
Arms and Ammunitions of Pak Army are divided into following categories.
I. Heavy Armored Weapons 2,672
II. Light and heavy weapons 1,509
III. Wheeled armored and vehicles = 255
IV. Current no of tanks of Pak Army = 4,000
 Currently Pakistan has 200 (Al-Khalid MBT-2000) tanks, which is redesigned with
latest and modern technical capabilities with the collaboration of China.
 T-80UD, is another main battle field tank, Pakistan army has purchased 320 Ukrainian
T-80UD main battle tanks in a deal worth $650 million.
 Al-Zarrar is the main battle tank (MBT) of the Pakistani Army, developed and
produced by Pakistan's Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT). The Al-Zarrar tank was
developed by modernizing and rebuilding the obsolete Chinese Type 59 tank.
Pakistan Air force has 65,000 full time personnel (Including 3000 pilots), 10,000
reservists and 902 Air crafts.
The no of fighting jets that Pakistan has, are listed below:
I. JF-17 Thunder = 45
II. F-16 Fighting Falcon = 63
III. Dassault Mirage = 75
IV. Chengdu F-7 Skybolt = 186
V. MFI-17 Mushshak = 40
VI. K-8 Karakorum = 48
VII. Lockheed C-130 =18
VIII. Saab 2000 = 1
Beside these jets Pakistan also has a wide range of fighting helicopters about 600
different types of helicopters are included in PAF.
After Army, the most equipped, modernized and capable part of Pakistan's defense is its
missile system. Because of its missiles system India and most of the European countries
are in fear because Pakistan is the county whose 70% defense system is based on missile
technology and has a waste range of active missile system.
The missile system is divided into following categories.

 The Pakistan Navy has around 24,000 active personnel and 5,000 in reserve. The force
includes a small Naval Air Arm and the approximately 2,000 member paramilitary
