Some is used in positive sentences with both countable and uncountable nouns, while any is used in negative sentences and questions. An exception is that some is used in questions when offering or requesting something. Somebody, somewhere, and something are used in positive sentences, while anybody, anywhere, and anything are used in negative sentences or questions.
1. SOME / ANY
Some and any are adjectives or nonfinite pronouns that are used with:
Uncountable nouns in singular
Countable nouns in plural
Or replacing the substantive

4. In questions that imply an invitation or an offer.

3. In conditionals sentences or expressing doubt
Examples:
If I see any of your friends I’ll tell them to meet you at the cinema

In negative and interrogative sentences, any is used with the same meanings of some:
Examples:
Is there any water in the glass? There is hardly any sugar.
Are there any books on the table? There are scarcely any papers on the floor.
