AN ACT AMENDING CERTAIN 
SECTIONS OF R.A. NO. 7836, 
OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE 
"PHILIPPINE TEACHERS 
PROFESSIONALIZATION ACT OF 
1994"
Qualification Requirements of Applicants
Section 15 (e) of RA 7836 is amended as follows 
RA 7836 
• (3) For teachers in the 
secondary grades, a 
bachelor's degree in 
education or its equivalent 
with a major and minor, or 
a bachelor's degree in arts 
and sciences with at least 
ten (10) units in 
professional education 
RA 9293 
• (3) For teachers in the 
secondary grades, a 
bachelor's degree in 
education or its equivalent 
with a major and minor, or 
a bachelor degree in arts 
and sciences with at least 
eighteen (18) units in 
professional education
Registration and Exception
Section 26 is amended to read as follows:
Failed licensure exam, rating ≥ 5% from passing general average 
rating 
Board issues 2 year special permit 
Eligible as para-teachers 
Assigned to areas where there is shortage/absence of professional 
teachers (DepEd, ARMM education department)
• Holder of certificate of eligibility as a 
1 teacher (CSC, DECS) 
• Registered professional teacher 
(National Board for Teachers under DECS 
pursuant to PD 1006) 2
Person excelled, gained int’l recognition, widely 
acknowledged expert in field of specialization 
Issued special 
permit by the 
Board
Transitory Provisions
Section 31 is amended to read as follows: 
Special Permits 
issued to para-teachers 
3 yrs 
May be renewed 
upon expiration 
For a non-extendible 
period of 2 yrs 
5 yrs

  • 3. AN ACT AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF R.A. NO. 7836, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE "PHILIPPINE TEACHERS PROFESSIONALIZATION ACT OF 1994"
  • 5. Section 15 (e) of RA 7836 is amended as follows RA 7836 • (3) For teachers in the secondary grades, a bachelor's degree in education or its equivalent with a major and minor, or a bachelor's degree in arts and sciences with at least ten (10) units in professional education RA 9293 • (3) For teachers in the secondary grades, a bachelor's degree in education or its equivalent with a major and minor, or a bachelor degree in arts and sciences with at least eighteen (18) units in professional education
  • 7. Section 26 is amended to read as follows:
  • 8. Failed licensure exam, rating ≥ 5% from passing general average rating Board issues 2 year special permit Eligible as para-teachers Assigned to areas where there is shortage/absence of professional teachers (DepEd, ARMM education department)
  • 9. • Holder of certificate of eligibility as a 1 teacher (CSC, DECS) • Registered professional teacher (National Board for Teachers under DECS pursuant to PD 1006) 2
  • 10. Person excelled, gained int’l recognition, widely acknowledged expert in field of specialization Issued special permit by the Board
  • 12. Section 31 is amended to read as follows: Special Permits issued to para-teachers 3 yrs May be renewed upon expiration For a non-extendible period of 2 yrs 5 yrs
