With the roll out of the Facebook Places check in functionality, real estate agents and brokers need to be mindful to protect their reputation. Unless you change your custom privacy settings you could be the victim of a false Facebook Places check in.
This Facebook/social media presentation walks you step by step through the process customize your privacy settings and help safe guard your name and prevent others from knowingly or unknowingly harming your reputation.
Protect yourself from false Facebook Places check ins by changing your customized privacy settings.
First, access your Facebook personal profile by clicking the “Edit My Profile” link.
Next, click the privacy settings link below the Basic Information in the left side bar navigation.
You must access your “Places” privacy settings by clicking on the “Customize settings” link.
Facebook has left the ability for FB friends to tag you at Places by leaving the setting in the “Enabled” mode. You must select the “Disabled” setting to prevent false check ins.

Here, I have selected Brad Carroll as a tagged friend with me when I check in at Dakno Marketing.
You’ll note Brad has been selected and “tagged” with me at Dakno Marketing.
Because Brad has “disabled” the tagged Places functionality, his name isn’t associated with my check in at Dakno.
