- 1. Nitra region Vráble, Levice, Zlaté Moravce, Nitra Slovakia Made by Primary school from Vráble Comenius Wanderings through the History and Culture of Europe HISTORY OF OUR REGION
- 2. Nitra region Our hometown Vráble lies in Nitra region. Nitra is the town 20 km far from Vráble. Other cities near Vráble : Levice, Zlaté Moravce, villages Jelenec, Hrušov, Skýcov, in which you can find various
- 3. Children wiew on the history In this presentation we used paintings made by our pupils. Because it is essential how pupils and our schoolmates see Slovak history.
- 4. Vráble Vráble is our hometown. The most important sight is the castle called Fidvár here. The Castle Fidvár had four bastions and the courtyard stone tower, from which signals were given to Nitra and Gýmeš castle through invasion.
- 5. The first written collection about our hometown Vráble is from the year 1265 From the beginning of 15th century to 1848 our town Vráble was connected with Esztergom archbishop. In 17th century crafts of millers, butchers, shoemakers and furriers started to work here. The church is written documented in the year 1359.
- 6. At theend of 18th century the lateBaroquecastle(now pastorateoffice) was built. In 1821 theSeat housewasbuilt. In thecentreof our town on both sidesof Main Street alot of burgesshouses grew at theend of 19th century. Now they serveasshopsand privatefirms.
- 7. The Church of Blessed Virgin Mary. It is significant architectural building in our town. It is Neoromanesque three ship basilica built in years 1898-1901. His construction was initiated and financially supported by Esztergom archbishop František Klaudius Vasari. The author of figural wall paintings is Nitra artist Edmund Massáni. - 8. The Calvary is located in front of the church. The Church square belongs to the oldest area in the town Vráble. There you can see also the Monument of the heroes from the Second World War.
- 9. Wineyard area in Vrable region Vrable is very popular wine growing region You can find here The Chapel of St. Urban - the Patron and Quardian of vineyards. The Region Vráble is known also with growing of wine. It has got an irresistible aroma, great color and taste. - 10. Požitavie Mill Museum Požitavie Mill Museum – Mašek Mill is located on the riverŽitava, about 2 kilometers north of the town Vráble, in the local part Horný Ohaj.
- 11. Other sights and castles in our region Nitra is 20 km from Vráble and Nitra´s castle was the seat of princes Pribina, Mojmír, Svätopluk. The Dominat of this castle is the Cathedral , Bishop Palace and big fort with bastions. Today the Bishop Office is in the castle. The Nitra principality was here in 8th Century. Strong fort was the protection against hostile attacks –
- 12. The Statue of Cyril and Methodius Cyril and Methodius were important personalities in Slovak history . They wrote Hlaholika – the first letters of Slavs. We found their statue also in Nitra under the castle. They came to Great Moravia when the prince Rastislav ruled here.
- 13. Svätopluk square is known in Nitra. The City Hall was built here in 1880. The Square offers the relax next to the beautiful fountain. There is also The theatre of Andrej Bagar, new modern building. Every year the Cyril-Methodius festivals are hold here, Christmas and Carnival festivals as well.
- 14. Levicecastle Leviceisthetown 20 km from Vráblebut to theeast side. You can find heresomeruinsof gotic castlein fact. TheCastleuprised in thesecond half of 13th century with thegoal of prevent southern accessto themiddleSlovak miner´s cities. It wasthe part of MatúšČák Trenčiansky county, later it becametheroyal castle.
- 15. Topoľčianky opo ianky is a village and municipality in Zlatéľč Moravce , the town 20 km from Vráble to the south. You can visit the castle from 15th – 16th century built in Renaissance and Baroque style here. It is surrounded with wonderful park. National Stud farm ( horse breeding ) is located in Topo ianky.ľč
- 16. The Castle called Gýmeš Gýmeš is actually only some ruins of gothic castle from 12th century. It was built for family line Forgáč. It is located nearthe village Jelenec about 25 km from Vráble.
- 17. TheCastleHrušov This historical sight of our region is just ruined gothic castle in the village Skýcov about 30 km from our town. It was built in 13th century on the hill called Skalka Rock in the middle of beautifl nature.

- 19. In Nitra´s region you can visit a lot of museums, sights and see statues showing personality and speaking about rich history of our region. We hope, when you visit Slovakia in May 2014 we ´ll show you some of them.
