2. • We are students from primary school in Slovakia
and we created this presentation for our Erasmus+
project – My country, your country
• In our country Slovakia we have a lot of beautiful
castles and cathedrals, you can find also some
ruins of castles here and other sights, too...
• In this presention we will show you the most
beautiful and the most famous sights, which is
worth visiting or seeing.
4. Bratislava castle
• Bratislava castle is the main castle in the capital city of Slovakia.
• It is huge rectangular building with four corner towers
• It lies on isolated rocked hill of Small Carpatia right
above the river Danube in the middle of Bratislava.
• It has been dominant of the town for the centuries.
• From the castle it is beautiful
view in Bratislava, Austria
and under clean weather also
parts of Hungary.
5. Other sights of the capital Bratislava
• In Bratislava you can see more beautiful historic
buildings such as the President Palace, City Hall,
Michael´s Gate, Slovak National Theatre.
6. Slovak National Theater
• Slovak National Theater in Bratislava is the second
oldest Slovak theater. It has three complets (drama,
opera, ballet ).
• It was founded in 1920 after the rise of Czechoslovakia
• It lies in Hviezdoslav square.
• New renesance building was built
in years 1885 -1886 in time
of Austria-Hungary on basis
of design of Vienna architects
Fellner and Helmer who created
projects of theatrical buildings
in 10 Europian countries.
7. Nitra castle
• The castle is located in the city Nitra 20 km from our town
Vrable.
• The Castle is located on the hill in the centre of town.
• In the 8th century there was created Nitra principality.
• After integration of Nitra principality to Great
Moravia the city became the seat of Princes
Pribina, Rastislav, Svätopluk.
• The dominant of the castle is
the St. Emeram´s Cathedral.
Now there is the residence
of bishop.
8. Beckov castle
• Beckov is a castle ruin located near the village
of Beckov in Trenčín region in Western Slovakia.
• The castle is situated on the cliff near the river and was
used as a strategic outpost in Great Moravia.
• A stone castle was built there to protect the borders of
the Kingdom of Hungary, probably in the middle of the
13th century.
• The castle became property
of Matthew Csák – famous
master of this region –
in 13th and 14th centuries.
9. Trenčin castle
• The castle is located in Western Slovakia in the city Trenčin.
• From the 13th to 14th centuries, the castle became the seat
of Matthew Csák, the legendary master of the River Váh and
Tatra mountain.
• The water well is connected with the legend of Turkish
Prince Omar and his great love to the beautiful Fatime.
• He had to dig out this well
into the rock so we usually
called it „the Well of love“.
10. Bojnice castle
• Bojnice belongs to the most beautiful castle in
Slovakia and also in middle Europe. It looks like the
castle from fairy tales.
• The Castle was built in the 11th century.
• It was owned by the most
famous Hungarian noble
families and the last from
them was family of Pálfy.
11. Spiš castle
• Spiš castle is only ruin of the castle with large
area, it is one the biggest castle complex in
Slovakia.
• It rises above the small town called Spišské
Podhradie in Košice region in Eastern Slovakia.
• The castle is national cultural sight.
12. Orava castle
• It's located in the Orava region, county of
Dolný Kubín.
• Orava castle comes from the period between
13th and 17th century.
• It's beautiful, large and it's built on a reef

13. St. Elisabeth Cathedral
• St. Elisabeth Cathedral is the biggest church in
Slovakia.
• It is situated in Eastern Slovakia in the city Košice.
• The Complex of the Cathedral
and near St. Michael´s Chapels
and also Urban tower was
declared a national cultural
sight in 1970.
14. St. James Church in Levoča
• Roman Catholic Parish Church of St. James belongs to the
most important monuments of sacral art in Slovakia.
• It is in the town Levoča and belongs to the biggest Gothic
churches in Slovakia.
• Here you can see great carvings - altars
created by well-known woodcarver

and also the works of the baroque
jeweler Ján Szullassy .
15. The monument of Milan Rastistav Štefanik
• This monument is memorial place - symbolic monument of
Milan Rastislav Štefanik situated in Bradlo Hill.
• You can find it near Trnava town in Western Slovakia
• Milan Rastislav Štefanik became famous astronomer,
military pilot, French general and he is one of the most
known personalities of Slovak history.
• He was an important person in
the founding of Czechoslovakia.
• The monument was designed
by the architect Dusan Jurkovic
and it is in the UNESCO
list of monuments.
16. Other monuments
In Slovakia you can find some monuments
devoted to the end of Second World War for
example Slavín in Bratislava
or to Slovak national Uprising like
Monument in Banská Bystrica.

17. Natural museum – skanzems
• Natural museums show us the hard but also beautiful
life of people in the past living in villages in various
region of Slovakia, their houses, atchitecture, folk
customs.
• In Slovakia you can find them located in unique nature
