Autumn brings vibrant colors as leaves change from green to shades of red, orange, and yellow. Trees such as maples, oaks, and birches put on a spectacular show as the chlorophyll in their leaves breaks down and carotenoids and anthocyanins are exposed. By early winter most trees are bare and resting until spring when new growth will emerge once more.
