Beginning OverviewFounded in 2002, Turning Technologies is headquartered in downtown Youngstown, Ohio. The company began with three goals in mind: to make response technology more affordable, easier to use, and better documented so that users could easily grasp its benefits. By 2007, the company was ranked as the fastest growing privately-owned software company in the U.S. by Inc. Magazine. After beginning in a 12-by-20 foot office with three employees, Turning is now home to 200 employees, many added in the 2011 year.Recent GrowthIn 2011, Turning continued to see 20% overall growth with profits of over $47 million. One of the contributing factors to its success included a strong international presence which saw approximately 50% growth. In order to meet the growing demand, Turning opened its first brick and mortar international office in Amsterdam, 2010. Today more than four million ResponseCards have been delivered worldwide. Products are available to purchase and rent in more than 100 countries.Continued InnovationTurning continues to remain innovative in the marketplace. The company has adopted an agile approach that allows for quick response to a dynamic marketplace with emerging needs. Turning readily elicits customer feedback, taking it into consideration during the development process to create the best products specifically designed with customers in mind. The company’s upcoming product release will cater to the existing customer base and provide unparalleled resources to an entirely new group of users.
Two parts of functionality: Students will have a device to give a response. Presenter will have a polling software.
Nobody should respond with “Not Familiar At All” since they just completed questions with a student response system.

TurningPoint is the first in-class assessment & student data collection system that allows faculty to collect data in PowerPoint, over-top of any application, as well as administer self-paced assessments in both Mac & PC environments. Fundamentally our application is broken down into three sections: Polling, Content, & Manage. No installation required. We have both the storage (4 gigs) and no storage receivers available. The no storage receiver is extremely compact and can fit two side-by-side in a Mac.
These are now your three polling options in TurningPoint. No need to open three separate programs. It’s all here, right at the start of TurningPoint.
Keep simple – this option is available for those who want more robust options. This is a clear differentiator. However, don’t spend too much time unless there are all PowerPoint/PC users in the room. If you have a group of PC/PowerPoint users that want the more robust features, schedule a separate time to go over with them.
In addition to outside of the typical classroom environment, field trips are another good example of using RCAW. Use this in your presentation after all anywhere polling questions are done.
TurningPoint user, Ian Beatty, Ph.D. an Assistant Professor of Physics at the University of North Carolina at GreensboroIn 2006, Dr. Beatty directed a large NSF-funded study that focused on how teachers learn to use clicker-based pedagogy. His primary expertise lies in clicker-based pedagogy and other techniques for engaging students in active learning, on which he has conducted or co-conducted over 30 talks and workshops. His current interest, however, is broader: envisioning and exploring new, provocatively different ways to teach that might align better with how humans naturally learn and function.
This quote is in reference to the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT) for the 8th grade class at Clayton County School District. This shows the impact over time of investing in a one to one clicker program. Clayton County is 75% saturated. The CRCT is designed to measure how well students acquire the skills and knowledge described in the state adopted curriculum including the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS) in reading, English/language arts, and mathematics and the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) in science and social studies. The assessments yield information on academic achievement at the student, class, school, system, and state levels. This information is used to diagnose individual student strengths and weaknesses as related to the instruction of the state adopted curriculum, and to gauge the quality of education throughout Georgia.Source: Are handheld clickers making a difference in the classroom? Triton from Turning Technologies is a highly secure, low to no bandwidth data collection system that eliminates the need for standard bubble sheets. The system combines the front end ease of paper bubble form test administration with the back end ease of having result data instantly available in an electronic format. Students enter answers to test questions using ResponseCard NXT clickers. Proctor software is stored on a USB drive and administers tests with one click. Collected data is backed up and stored in three locations, including a central administration portal that manages all testing elements. Triton is a secure, accurate and easy system designed to meet market needs from everyday formative assessments through enterprise-wide standardized exams, evaluations and certification testing. The system is complimentary to Turning Technologies existing polling solutions.
